
Rs 2.25 cr PMGSY funds released for Nagaland
Kohima, July 23 (MExN): The Ministry of Rural Development has released Rs.2.25 Crore to Nagaland as first tranche of first instalment of Administrative Fund towards Central Assistance under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) for the financial year 2025-26. The central assistance, part of the PMGSY-III scheme, mandates a corresponding state share of Rs 0.25 crore. The Nagaland government is required to transfer “these funds along with corresponding state share to Nagaland Rural Roads Development Agency (NGRRDA) within a maximum period of 30 days from the date of receipt of these funds.” An official release stated that “in case of delay beyond 30 days in transfer of Central share to the State Nodal Agency account, interest will be charged at the rate of 7 percent per annum.”
Kohima businesses directed to install fire safety equipment
Kohima, July 23 (MExN): In continuation of the earlier office order and in line with the guidelines issued by the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), the Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) has directed all the business establishments/shops under KMC to keep portable fire extinguisher in their respective business establishments/shops. This directive has been issued in the interest of public safety and the security of the premises and is mandatory for the aforementioned establishments. In continuation to KMC office earlier order and taking into consideration the shortage in bulk availability of fire extinguishers, one may contact the office of KMC during office hours for assistance in procuring the fire extinguishers. This was stated in a notification issued by Zapuno Sophie, Chief Executive Officer, KMC.
NPA calls consultative meeting on CMHIS
Kohima, July 23 (MExN): The Nagaland Pensioners’ Association (NPA) Kohima will be holding a consultative meeting on August 5 at 11:00 AM in its head office at DC’s Complex. Kohima in connection with Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS) and also to suggest solution for the cases of the pensioners. In this connection, NPA finance secretary and consultant K. Seijahen requested all the branch associations to send atleast one representative, probably president and general secretary to the meeting without fail.
ANTA condemns armed taxi snatching incident in Kohima
Kohima, July 23 (MExN): The All Nagaland Taxi Association (ANTA) Hq Kohima has condemned the recent incident where in a local taxi bearing no. NL01T-A0183 was hired from Razhü point (Kohima main town) to Viswema Village by the three miscreants and later was snatched forcefully at gunpoint between Viswema and Kedima village around 4:30 pm on July 21. “This primitive mode of gun culture and robbery cannot be tolerated,” ANTA stated in its condemnation note. The Association has appealed to the law enforcing agencies and the concerned department to book the culprits involved at the earliest and award them befitting punishment under the strictest sections of law. The Association has pledged to render its unflinching support and cooperation to the government agencies concerned for booking the culprit. “We shall leave no stone unturned for justice to be delivered,” it added.
GPRN/NSCN nabs abitual vehicle thief
DIMAPUR, JULY 23 (MExN): The Dimapur Town Command of the GPRN/NSCN has apprehended a habitual vehicle thief and recovered a stolen passenger auto rickshaw bearing registration number AS-09-BC-0473. The vehicle’s chassis number is MD2B51BX0MWF12027 and the engine number is AZXWMF81130. According to a press release issued by the Office of the MIP, the accused has been interrogated and dealt with in accordance with the Yehzabo (Constitution) of the Government. The genuine owner of the recovered vehicle is requested to collect the same by producing the original documents from the deputed official within seven days from the date of this release. In view of security concerns, any claim made after the stipulated time will not be entertained, the press release stated.
