Longleng DC notifies on Amur Falcons

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 4 (MExN): The Deputy Commissioner of Longleng has issued notice to all concerned that the Amur Falcon is protected under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, and that trapping, killing and selling of Amur Falcon is a criminal offense punishable with 3 years rigorous imprisonment or a fine of Rs. 25,000 or both under section 51 of the said Act. It therefore directed all the Village Council Chairmen and Ward Presidents under the Longleng district to take up the matter as a top priority and to monitor and give strict instructions within their respective jurisdiction. 

Sovima Police Station to cover fourteen villages

Chümoukedima, November 4 (MExN): The Sovima Police Station under Chümoukedima district with its limits extending fourteen villages will be functional from November 5. The villages include: Selouphe village, Zoological Park Area, Singrijan village, Khriezephe village, Ikishe village, Shitovi village, Disagapou village, Vidima village, Razaphe village, Rasaphe Basa Village, Sovima village, L Hetoi village, Shokhuvi village and Virazouma village. This was stated in a press release issued by Rothihu Teteso, IPS, CP Dimapur.

GPPK general meeting on Nov 8

Kohima, November 4 (MExN): A general body meeting of Gorkha Public Panchayat Kohima (GPPK) will be held on November 8 at 12:00 pm at GPPK multi utility hall Chandmari Kohima in connection with the ongoing exercise of the descendants’ lists. GPPK Press & Publication Secretary Anup Rana in a press release has requested all members to attend the meeting without fail. Further, a list of the descendants will be pasted on the notice board of the GPPK on November 6. Therefore, the public are requested to check and verify their family names.

NTCA 19th annual general conference

Kohima, November 4 (MExN): Nagaland Theological College Association (NTCA) will hold its 19th annual general conference under the theme ‘Christians and Politics’ at Zubza on November 5 and 6. The conference speakers are Rev Dr Zelhou Keyho, General Secretary, NBCC, and K Temjen, Chief Editor, Tir Yimyim. A panel will be held on the topic with the following panellist: Dr Andrew Ahoto, proprietor LFI School, Awa Lorin, Joint Chief Electoral Officer, GON, and Dr ZK Pharu, Assistant Professor, Social Analysis, Baptist Theological College, Pfutsero.

NSCN (IM) mourn demise of Shimreingam 

Dimapur, November 4 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) has mourned the demise of Major (posthumous) HW Shimreingam. He hailed from Hoomi village under Wung Tangkhul Region (WTR). 

The MIP of NSCN (IM) in a press release said that Shimreingam enrolled in the Naga Army on December 28, 2008 and ‘served the Naga Nation with dedication, sincerity and loyalty till he breathed his last on November 2, 2022 while performing his duty.’

“In recognition of the service rendered towards the Naga Nation and as a mark of tribute to the departed comrade in arms, Captain HW Shimreingam was posthumously bestowed the rank of Major,” it stated.

NSCN (IM) also acknowledged ‘the family for giving the Naga Nation a great son and patriot. The precious service rendered by him for the cause of the Naga Nation shall always be cherished and recorded in the pages of Naga history.’
While conveying condolences to the bereaved family members, the NSCN IM) added, ‘The Naga Nation proudly salutes this great son of the soil.’
