The Baptist College, Kohima has conducted its 42nd Sports Meet from March 4 to 6 at Seikhazou Ground, Kohima under the theme ‘Strength in diversity, excellence in unity.’ Kethosituo Sekhose, Director, Youth Resources & Sports, Government of Nagaland graced the event as the guest of honor. During the opening ceremony, Sekhose emphasized the essence of sportsmanship and teamwork, asserting that every student is a leader. He also highlighted potential avenues for future collaborations between the institution and students. Orenvungo Ezung, Assistant Games & Sports Secretary, Student Council, Baptist College led the prize distribution while vote of thanks was proposed by Narola Chuba, Vice-Principal, Baptist College, Kohima.

Central Institute of Horticulture, Nagaland organised two-day farmers’ training on processing and value addition of horticulture crops at Bade village under Chümoukedima district on March 4 and 5. The training was organised with the objective to provide technical support on post harvest management of horticulture crops and utilization of excess and/or unmarketable commodity through processing and value addition. It also aimed at creating awareness on avenues for income generation through post harvest processing. The technical experts of the Institute provided hands on practical demonstration on preparation of various processed products like green chilly pickle, ginger candy, carambola wine, tomato sauce and ginger paste. A total of 57 farmers participated and interacted with the subject experts.
The Farmers Cell, School of Agricultural Sciences, Nagaland University () conducted one day-skill development training and farmers-scientist interaction on March 1.The occasion was graced by Professor L Daiho, Dean of SAS, NU. The training was held on the theme “enhancing employability through soap making training among rural women” to create alternate livelihood opportunity for the rural women besides farming. The resource persons were Alemla Samuel and Apok from Life Ministry Learning Centre. Altogether, 28 rural women were benefitted from 4 villages viz., Sirhi-Angami, Sirhima, Hekeshe and Sovima. 
The Chief Postmaster General, North East Postal Circle, Mariamma Thomas along with the officials from the Kohima Head Post office called on the Governor La Ganesan at Raj Bhavan, Kohima on March 7. The Chief Postmaster General NE circle presented a Souvenir box containing a Memento featuring six commemorative stamps of Ram Janmbhoomi Temple, the book on ‘Ramayana’, First Day Cover and water and soil from Ayodhya. ICAR-ERS, IVRI, Kolkata in collaboration with COVSC&AH, Jalukie organized one day technology distribution program on 6-3-2024 at CoVsc & AH, Jalukie. The program was conducted in presence of Dr. Arnub Sen, Head, ERS ICAR-IVRI Kolkata, Dr. Gautam Das Principal Scientist., Dean I/c Dr. S Borthakur, Dr. L Babita, SMS, KVK Jalukie, and Dr. Mahesh. There were distribution of various technologies which includes chicks, ducklings, Kids, feeds and Mineral Mixture to the 130 beneficiaries/ farmers of Peren district Nagaland. INTACH Nagaland Chapter held the national poster and essay competition for schools on the theme “My Monument Search” at Don Bosco Institute of Development and Learning, Dimapur on March 6. The competition saw the participation of nine schools bringing 82 students from classes 7-9 to paint and writing a 200 worded essay on their chosen monument of the region. A PowerPoint on India’s rich architectural heritage, forts, palaces and places of worship dating from antiquity and the conservation and restoration of built heritage for future generation was presented by State Convener, Sentila T Yanger. The entries will be sent to INTACH New Delhi, where 10 National winners will be announced from the nationwide entries submitted from across the country. Japfü Christian College, Kigwema, NSS Unit conducted voter awareness campaign on March 5 under the theme ‘My vote my future- Power of one vote.’ The main purpose of the campaign is to inform, motivate and request every eligible voter to cast his/her vote ethically. The campaign also focused on registration of eligible voters and handles all aspects of Voters awareness and education aimed at improving electoral participation. Around 400 students along with the staff and faculty actively participated in the program. All the participants took the voter's pledge at the end of the programme. 
As a part of ‘Mera Pehla Vote Mere Desh Ke Liye’ to encourage new and first-time voters to exercise their right to franchise the Kohima Science College Jotsoma organised a programme at their campus on March 5. The Principal of the college, Dr Temjenwapang spoke on the significance of the campaign. A student of the college, The students of the institute took a pledge to exercise their right to cast a vote in the ensuing elections. Angukali Wotsa, General Secretary, KSCJ administered the oath to the participants.

 

Nagaland Pollution Control Board (NPCB) in collaboration with District Administrator Dimapur held an interaction meet with all the colony leaders of Dimapur under National Clean Air Program (NCAP) at Hotel Saramati, Dimapur on March 7. DC Dimapur, Dr Tinojongshi Chang, NCS addressing the gathering stressed on the need to act on pollution related problems immediately and added that the consequences for the future generation will be costly if not acted upon. Yanathung Kithan, Scientist ‘B’ NPCB, Akangmeren Imchen Scientist ‘B’ NPCB, Rongsenben Longkumer Junior Scientific Assistant, NPCB, Hanpong Konyak Junior Scientific Assistant, NPCB conducted a technical interaction with the members present. Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) Pughoboto Region held a consultative meeting on March 7 at the residence of NDPP Candidate, Y Vikheho Swu in Dimapur. Besides the NDPP Party workers from Pughoboto and Regional and Central Executive Board (CEB) members, the meeting was attended by a large number of Aphuyemi citizens, well-wishers and supporters, stated a press release from Media Cell, NDPP Pughoboto Region. During the meeting, the party reaffirmed its commitment to the NDPP Party under the leadership of Neiphiu Rio, Chief Minister of Nagaland and Chingwang Konyak, President of NDPP. Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) Wokha Region along with the Wokha district CEB & CWO members, Presidents of all four Assembly Constituencies and all the frontal organization of NDPP Wokha Region held a consultative meeting on March 5. During the meeting, the house welcomed the decision of the Neiphiu Rio Chief Minister of Nagaland, Chingwang Konyak, President NDPP Nagaland, NDPP Parliamentary Board and PDA Government Alliance partner leaders and members for awarding the NDPP party ticket to the forthcoming 18th Lok Sabha election 2024 to Dr Chumben Murry. National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit, North East Institute of Social Sciences of Research (NEISSR) organised ‘Voters Awareness Program’ as part of the ‘Mera Pehla Vote Desh Ke Liye’ campaign at NEISSR Cultural Hall, Chümoukedima under the motto ‘Not me but you.’ Kossam Konyak, Convener NSS in his speech emphasized that right to vote is not a privilege but a basic human right. He concluded his speech with a voters’ pledge, allowing NSS volunteers and faculty to solidify their commitment to democracy. Oriental College, Kohima conducted a certificate course on Securities Markets for 2 days, on March 4 and 5 at the college auditorium with National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM). Chenio Lotha from Securities Exchange Board of India was the resource person. The objectives of the initiative are to create awareness of personal finance framework, investing and understanding the precautions and risk involve while investing in securities markets and to empower the students for facing interview in financial services industry.
A one-day orientation on schemes, rights and entitlement for BLF, EC, SAC and VF Programme was conducted at CMTC, Jakhama on March 7. Resource person, Chief Legal Aid Defence Counsel, Kohima District Legal Service Authority, Keduvi Zhotso emphasised on various special laws relating to women and children from sexual offence and domestic violence. Child Development Project Officer Jakhama, Zubemo Jami highlighted on Centrally Sponsored Schemes. He maintained that the scheme aims to provide financial assistance of Rs 5,000 for the first live child and Rs 6,000 for the second child provided the second child is a girl. He also informed that the benefits will be disbursed through Direct Benefits Transfer only. State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI) organised two-day training program on ‘Urban Farming for Extension Professional’ on February 27 and 28. During the training, the resource persons were Dr Azeze Seyie, Scientist (Spices, Plantation, Medicinal and Aromatic Crops) ICAR research Complex, NEH Region, Nagaland Centre, Dr SR Assumi, Sr Scientist, Horticulture, ICAR, NEH Region Nagaland Centre and Alex Khathing CGO and Partner at Future Farms: Chennai. The participants also visited ZU Farm (Partner with Future Farm) at Kohima. Internal Quality Assurance cell, Sao Chang College organised one-day Intensive Music workshop on March 4 with Lirili Jinger, Proprietor of Tuensang School of Music as the resource person. Lirili expatiated on the various aspects of music. Keynote address was delivered by Longtichang Tzudir, Vice Principal, highlighting. The workshop was attended by 70 participants including the teaching faculty in attendance. Sustainable Development Research Centre (SDRC), Chomoükedima and North Eastern Region Community Resource Management Society, Shillong (NERCORMS) organised training cum distribution of kiwi plant saplings at Thipüzu village, Phek district on March 5. The initiative is part of “Establishment of Kiwi Orchard with Elite Planting Materials in the North East India” project funded by North Eastern Council (NEC), M/DoNER, Government of India. Detailed instructions on planting techniques were provided by Dr Mechuselie Kehie, Chairman and Director, SDRC. Around 6630 kiwi plant saplings including male and female plants were distributed for 14 Ha of land earmarked for the second phase of kiwi cultivation under NERCORMS project. Each farmer received a designated number of saplings based on their landholding size, ensuring equitable distribution and maximizing the potential for widespread adoption of kiwi cultivation. Altogether 24 participants attended the programme. 
Unity College, Women Development Cell observed “World Day of Fight Against Sexual Exploitation” on March 4 in collaboration with Dream Work Taekwondo Academy. A self-defense training session was conducted for 6th-semester female students on the college campus. The proprietor Sanjay Chetri along with Instructors Raj Rana and Dhiraj Rai led the training, providing essential skills and techniques to enhance personal safety along with members of the academy Toshimenla, Shanchobeni, and Angel RT. The Cultural Committee of Zunheboto Government College organised its cultural day on February 28 themed, “Igniting Traditional and Cultural Values”, with Dr Vihuto Asumi, General Secretary, Sumi Hoho as the resource person. The students presented performances, including folklore drama, men folk dance, women folk song, as well as handicraft making, ethnic games etc.
