Initiated by Governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya and Department of Health and Family Welfare with Dr. Anjana Phukan Memorial Foundation, an NGO from Guwahati and Indian National Fellowship Centre, NGO from Mumbai, a cancer screening camp for women was conducted in Pfutsero and Wokha on May 18 and 19 respectively. The team led by Ron Barooah, with specialist doctors from Guwahati, Dr. Shobhasmita Borthakur, Dr. Tanma Saikia Das and nurses Manabika Nath and Susmita Deka, screened a total of 425 women for cervical and breast cancer. The team collected Pap smear for early detection of cervical cancer and performed VIA and clinical breast examination. Gynaecological consultations and awareness talks were given to participants and free medicines were distributed.
 
Leo Club of Dimapur successfully completed the District President’s visit on May 20. District President Leo Akash Bhura and First Lady Leo Surbhi Bhura along with their team marked the occasion.
 
Training on Household Level Composting was held at Lake View Colony and Viola Colony on May 18 and 19 respectively, under the ‘Garbage to Gold’ Project implemented by Pro-Rural in collaboration with Dimapur Municipal Council.
 
In compliance with the order of the Chief Judicial Magistrate First Class, Zunheboto for destruction of several hundred bottles of the seized assorted IMFL and canned beer in connection to different cases were destructed on May 20 at the public dumping site, Zunheboto. The destruction committee set up by the court is headed by Kivinto Swu, Assistant Public Prosecutor, Zunheboto as its Chairman, Akato, Prosecuting Inspector, PI Court as Secretary and Nikheho Officer In-Charge Zunheboto as member. IRCS Noklak Sub-Division branch in collaboration with CHC Noklak organized a free health camp at Choklangan village on April 14. Thsuvusie Phoji ADC, Noklak and Er Seyiekhristuo Solo, EAC Pathso also attended the camp. The medical team was headed by Dr. Victor SMO, Langoi Pharmacist, Tongkoi ANM Sub-Centre Choklangan, Themshao ANM Sub-Centre Sanglao village and Chonglio ANM Sub-Centre Tsuwao village. Total of 147 people availed the free checkup and seven minor surgeries were performed. Medicines were also distributed for free. W. Lachu Lam Hony Secretary IRCS Noklak Sub-Division branch highlighted about Red Cross Society.
 
SDPO, APP and other police personnel destroy seized IMFL on May 19. The Wokha Police destroyed huge quantity of IMFL and drugs which were seized on different occasions. In this connection, several persons were arrested and cases were registered at Wokha Police Station under different sections of the law. The destroyed consignment included 1266 capsules of SP, 28 tablets of Nitrosen, Kingfisher can beer, Vodka (magic moments), OC blue (whisky), MC whisky and MC Rum. In this image, trucks are seen parked on the both sides of the road along the Army Supply Road, Dimapur causing traffic inconvenience for the public on Saturday. Besides traffic chaos created, the usual practises of parking vehicles have also damaged drainage cover slabs cum footpaths along that particular stretch.
 
The office bearers of Burkhang Cultural Society, Dimapur were invited by the PB Acharya, Governor of Nagaland and his wife to a high tea party on May 19 at the Raj Bhavan. The society discussed the importance of promoting and preserving culture and traditions for the identity of any community.
