Nagaland: Odd-even traffic rule in Dimapur extended till November 30

Dimapur, November 1 (MExN): The odd-even rule for non-essential vehicular movement within Dimapur town and NH-29 till Chümoukedima town has been extended till November 1. 

In the interest of public safety during the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic, the traffic regulations for non-essential vehicular movement been issued with effect from November 2 till November 30, stated an order issued by the Dimapur Commissioner of Police, Rothihu Tetseo.

Odd-Even Rule: 
Odd number Days: Monday, Wednesday and Friday - vehicle with registration number ending with odd numbers (eg, 1, 3, 5, 7 & 9) will be allowed to ply. 

Even Number Days: Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday - vehicles with registration number ending with even numbers (eg, 2, 4, 6, 8 & 0) will be allowed to ply.


The category under essential services as notified earlier will be exempted, the order said. 

Further, Government servants on bonafide government duties and vehicles involved in providing essential services/involved in COVID -19 related duties will also be exempted from the purview of this restriction on production of relevant documents and valid ID proof, it added. 

There is no traffic restriction on Sundays and two wheelers are also exempted from the traffic restriction.

All heavy vehicles, except those engaged in the four lane construction work with valid permit will be restricted from plying within the town area and highway area from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. 

The Commissioner of Police’s order further said that violation of the regulations would be penalized and appealed to all citizens for cooperation in the interest of public safety.
