One person was killed and another injured in a road accident in Dimapur on October 7. According to the Traffic police, the accident occurred around 8:00 am at the Purana Bazaar stretch of NH 29.
The deceased and the injured were on a scooty headed towards town when it was hit by a Mahindra Bolero. Citing preliminary inquiry, the Traffic police said that the Bolero, which was moving towards Chümoukedima, reportedly moved into the wrong lane hitting the oncoming scooty.
The rider, identified as Ajay Sangma (26), succumbed to injury in hospital, while the pillion rider, identified as Jiten Sangma (49) survived with injury, the police said. The driver of the Bolero was arrested after he surrendered to the police, it was added.
