Nagaland: Over 40,000 students to sit for NBSE exams from today

Over 40,000 students across Nagaland will be sitting for their Class X and Class XII board exams starting March 9.

The board exams conducted annually by the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) for 2023 will kick start with the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate examinations (HSSLC) from March 9, followed by the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) from March 10. 

The HSSLC exam concludes on March 31 while the HSLC exams will be conducted from March 10 to March 22. 

In an earlier release, the NBSE has informed that a total of 16,085 candidates are enrolled (Arts – 12431, Commerce – 1214 and Science – 2439) for the Class 12 exams.

The students will be appearing from 65 provisional examination centres across Nagaland, from 9 AM to 12 Noon for 80/70 marks and 2 hours for 50 marks.

 Out of 16,085 candidates, 7612 are boys and 8473 are girls.

The Class XI Promotion Examination 2023 will also start on March 9 and end on March 31. The promotion exam will be held in the afternoon from 1PM to 4PM. 

Meanwhile, a total of 24,361 candidates will be appearing for their Class 10 (HSLC) from 96 provisional examination centres. Out of 24,361 candidates, 11,197 are boys and 13,164 are girls. 

The timing for the exams is from 9AM to 12 Noon. 

Collectively, a total of 40,446 will be appearing the HSLC and HSSLC Exams. 

The NBSE had also informed earlier that candidates are required to bring their Original Admit Cards to the examination hall/room on all the days of the examination. 

Answers to the questions should be written keeping in mind the marks allotted to it, it said and candidates must shade/darken the roll number on the front page of the OMR of the Answer book correctly/properly, it reiterated. 

Candidates were also reminded to maintain discipline and refrain from any kind of mal-practices during examinations and cautioned that anyone resorting to unfair means in the examinations will be dealt as per the rules of the Board.

Meanwhile, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has extended his best wishes to students taking HSLC and HSSLC examinations under the NBSE. 

“Wishing you all good health and success,” Rio conveyed in a message on Twitter. 

Last week, Naga Students' Federation (NSF) has extended best wishes to all the students and appealed to all the appearing candidates to work hard and give all out effort in order to come out successfully in the upcoming examinations. 

The Federation also appealed to the state Power department to ensure that stable electricity is provided across the state in light of the HSLC and HSSLC examinations.

On March 8, the Dimapur Naga Students' Union (DNSU) while wishing the students has also appealed the Power department to ensure uninterrupted and adequate supply of power during the examinations.

Meanwhile, the Longleng district administration in a notification stated that any kind of unruly behaviour or misconduct will not be tolerated during the exams. 

Strict action will be taken against the offenders and any noncompliance will be met with immediate and strict legal action, it said.

A calm, noise-free, and favourable environment for students must be maintained during this period as these examinations hold immense importance for the future of our students and it is our collective responsibility to ensure that they are able to appear for their examinations without any disturbance or distraction, it added.
