Petrol prices breached psychological Rs 100-a-litre mark on June 27 in two districts in Nagaland while it was selling above Rs 99 in six other districts as fuel prices were hiked for second consecutive days.

Oil marketing companies (OMCs) increased the price of petrol by 0.34 paise on Sunday across the State while diesel prices were hiked by 0.24-0.25 paise.

With Sunday’s hike, a litre of petrol was retailing at record Rs 100.21 in Tuensang and Rs 100.13 in Kiphire, informed data on the official IndiaOil One app.

In 6 other districts - Noklak, Mon, Phek, Zunheboto (Satakha), Longleng and Mokokchung, it was selling above Rs 99 per litre on Sunday.

Meanwhile, diesel was retailing at Rs 93.78 per litre in Tuensang.

In Nagaland, fuel is cheapest in commercial capital Dimapur and most expensive in Tuensang.

On Sunday, a litre of petrol was going for Rs 97.09 while it was Rs 91.01 for diesel.

In all districts, Xtra Premium petrol is above Rs 100 per litre.

OMCs revise petrol and diesel prices every morning benchmarking retail fuel prices to average of global refined products' prices and dollar exchange.

According to IOC’s ‘price buildup’ of fuel prices in Delhi, besides global price impact on base price, retail prices are determined by price charged to dealers (based price + fright etc), excise duty, average dealer commission, and VAT (including VAT on Dealer Commission).

Price trends in Nagaland as per the app indicated that the cost fuel in each district correspond with their proximities with Dimapur, where the IOC’s Depot Terminal is located – the shorter the distance, the cheaper and vice-versa.
