State’s biggest PSA Oxygen Plant inaugurated at Kohima

Dimapur, October 7 (MExN): The Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on Thursday dedicated 35 Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) oxygen plants established under PM CARES, across 35 states and union territories, in an event held at AIIMS Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. “With this, all districts of the country will now have commissioned PSA oxygen plants,” the PMO said in a statement. Till now a total of 1,224 PSA oxygen plants have been funded under the PM CARES fund across the country, of these, more than 1,100 plants have been commissioned providing an output of over 1,750 MT oxygen per day, it added.

Kohima: Joining the rest of the nation, Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) held a dedication programme of the Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) Oxygen Plant under PM cares, a 1000 Liter Per Minute (LPM) PSA Oxygen Plant.

Advisor for Urban Development & Municipal Affairs, Dr Neikiesalie Kire while dedicating the PSA oxygen plant expressed gratitude to the Government of India and the Health Department for successfully installing the ‘State’s biggest PSA Oxygen Plant’ at NHAK. 

He said that with the PSA Oxygen plant, the State would be able to save many more lives who are desperately in need of oxygen. Adding that Oxygen Plant was not only for the people of Kohima but for the people of all the districts as a whole, he urged every individual to take the responsibility with positivity to follow all the precautionary measures to prevent from the Corona virus.

Dr Sentimeren informed that the PSA has four cylinders of which the two big cylinders are used as reservoirs which were based on the well-known PSA technology- two pressurized vessels with zeolite ensure continuous production for separation of oxygen from other gases.

The programme was followed by Live Telecast by the Prime Minister of India, stated a DIPR report.

Mon: MLA 46th AC Mon, N Thongwang Konyak on behalf of the State Government inaugurated the 500 LPM Generation Plant at District Hospital, Mon. 

Thonwang stated that Mon was fortunate to be among the 35 beneficiary lists and urged the medical team to use the equipment judiciously for the benefit of all. He added that with such a facility, the District is more confident to face a third wave if it strikes

Nodal Officer for PSA Oxygen Plant, DH Mon, Dr Pangkhat Konyak highlighted the gathering with a detailed briefing of the plant. The event was chaired by Dy CMO Mon, Dr Rongsennungla while the vote of thanks was delivered by SMO, DH Mon, Dr Wungyong. A dedicatory prayer was pronounced by Pastor Mission Centre, Rev T Honlong. 

Earlier, in another programme, DC Mon, Thavaseelan K, IAS inaugurated a CSR funded 400 LPM Oxygen Generation Plant at District Hospital Mon. The plant is funded by ACT Grants under the initiative of District Task Force Mon. The DC dedicated the plant to all the Health workers in the District with the hope that Mon would continue to be one of the safest Districts in the country during the pandemic. A dedicatory prayer was pronounced by Chaiplain, DH Mon, YP David. 

Peren: Deputy Commissioner, Peren, Sentiwapang Aier, NCS, formally inaugurated the oxygen plant at District Hospital.

Aier speaking on the occasion urged the public and the government departments to have coordination and give cooperation for smooth functioning of the hospital. Aier recalled on how various development activities took place due to the COVID-19 pandemic like the oxygen plant.

Medical Officer, Dr Dietho Koza said that the oxygen was very pure for the use emergency situation in the hospital, Dr Koza added. Sr Specialist, Dr Y Renbonthung Lotha, proposed the welcome address. 

Jalukie: Inauguration of 250 LPM PSA Oxygen Plant at CHC Jalukie was graced by ADC Jalukie, Dr Tinojongshi Chang in the presence of medical officials, public leaders and other officials. 

ADC Jalukie, Dr Tinojongshi Chang stated the challenging times of COVID-19 have given us the opportunity to redevelop our health and medical infrastructure and also the Government has taken all possible steps to fight against the pandemic and is committed to ensure better health and safety of the people of the country.

Stating that the people of Peren District are fortunate to have two Oxygen Plants in the district-one at CHC Jalukie and the other at DH Peren, the ADC further reminded the Medical staff and the citizens to take utmost care of the facility and also consider it as their own assets. 

Others who spoke in the Programme were NZPO President, Kevipelie Iheilung and Jalukie town Chairman Union President, Hauneu.

The dedicatory prayer was said by St Xavier College Jalukie, Principal, Rev Dr Francis Cheerangal.

Mokokchung: Minister for Higher Education & Tribal Affairs, Nagaland, Temjen Imna Along, inaugurated a 200 LPM Oxygen Generation Plant, under PM Cares at IMDH Mokokchung.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the day was momentous for the people of Mokokchung to finally have the PSA Oxygen Plant in the district which would definitely save precious lives of not only Mokokchung but neighbouring districts as will.

He said that through the magnanimous attitude and effort of the people of Mokokchung in fighting the battle, many lives have been saved. 

Executive Secretary ABAM, Rev Dr Mar Pongen said the dedicatory prayer, short speeches were delivered by Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung, Limawapang Jamir and President Ao Senden, Chubawati Longchar.

Wokha: MLA, Dr Chumben Murry inaugurated the 250 LMP PSA plant at Dr Motsuo Memorial District Hospital (DMMDH), Wokha.

Dr Murry expressed hope that not only patients but the private clinics in and around Wokha will also be benefited. Stating that the district hospital has now been equipped with many new facilities capable to take care of critical patients, he urged all the doctors to be dedicated and serve the needy people.

Medical Superintendent, DMMDH Wokha, Dr Tumchobeni while briefly highlighting the gathering about the PSA Oxygen generation plant said, the oxygen plants were issued through the PM Cares fund, which the Prime Minister Citizen Assistance Relief in emergency situation fund. 

Dr Tumchobeni also stated that the basic aim behind establishing PSA oxygen generation plants in Government hospitals in the district headquarters is to further strengthen the public health system and ensure that each of these hospitals has a captive oxygen generation facility. The plants are made functional today throughout the country and will ensure uninterrupted supply oxygen in hospitals at district level.

Dr Tumchobeni, however lamented that due to non-availability of separate transformer to support the functioning of the plant, she appealed the Power department, elected representatives Hohos to help in hastening the installation of a separate transformer at district hospital for which the proposal is already forwarded to the concerned department.

Tuensang: PM CARES sponsored 500 LPM PSA Plant inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Tuensang, Kumar Ramnikant at District Hospital, Tuensang. The DC said 500 LPM is the latest edition in the fight against the pandemic under PM cares which targets the entire district of the country.

MO DH Tuensang, Dr Y Imlong Chaba gave a brief report of the PSA plant while Dorothy Chang, Former President, COC Tuensang also presented the words of gratitude on behalf of civil societies. The dedicatory prayer was pronounced by ES CBLT, Rev Achu Chang.

Longleng: In Longleng, Deputy Commissioner M Shayung Phom inaugurated 250 LPM Oxygen Generation Plant at Community Health Center, Yachem and dedicated by Rev K Simon Phom, PBCA Longleng a DIPR report informed. 

Asserting that thousands have lost their lives due to lack of oxygen in the past, the DC was highly optimistic that nationwide inauguration of Oxygen Plant would meet the scarcity and safe the lives of people. Maintaining that safety and security is an essence of any project to function smoothly, he called upon various authority of Yachem village to take full responsibility and ownership of the Oxygen Plant to cater best medical services to the people of the district. 

Informing that “COVID-19 pandemic was a blessing in disguised,” the DC said, “Covid-19 has taught us the importance of health care facilities and accordingly hospitals have improved to a great extent.”

He informed that since CHC Yachem was converted to COVID-19 hospital, the grievance of the hospital were discussed during the District Task Force meetings and forwarded to the government to redress the issues. 

In the keynote address, Dr Obangjungla, CMO Longleng clarified that shifting of oxygen plant to Yachem CHC was taken after analysing all the pros and cons with consultation from higher ups and DTF because the present District Hospital lacks space and would be shifted again to the new hospital site. She urged the gathering not to create misunderstanding but to have farsighted vision for all-round development of the district.

H Kuhovi Sema, NPS Sr SP Longleng, Dr Kibangkumba, Medical Superintendent, Longleng, Phaushi representative from Phom People Council and Isakumba, Chairman, Village Council Yachem also spoke and thanked the government for the noble action. 

The programme was chaired by Dr Lingshau James, MO, CHC Yachem and the program concluded with benediction by Rev Adao Phom, Yachem Baptist Church. Government officers, public leasers, NGOs & Civil societies and village functionaries from neighbouring villages attended the programme. 

Phek: The dedication of PSA Oxygen Plant under PM Cares, 500 LPM (PSA) Oxygen Plant at District Hospital Phek was inaugurated by Razouvolie Dozo NCS, Deputy Commissioner, Phek on October 7.

In his address, the DC Phek expressed happiness for installing two PSA Oxygen Plants at the District, “which is now self-sufficient to address any emergency if arises in the entire district.” The DC Phek also shared the status of COVID-19 vaccination and testing of Phek district. He urged the participants including the stakeholders and various organisations to give more efforts in improving COVID vaccination and testing status.

Kutolu Nakro, District Media Officer NHM, Phek stated in a press release that dedicatory prayer was pronounced by Rev Dr Thupucuyi Khesoh, Pastor PTBC Phek. Welcome address was delivered by Dr Khriezotuo Paphino, CMO Phek.

DH  Dimapur by Rev. S. Vitoshe Sei, President, Dimapur Baptist Church Pastor's Fellowship

Dimapur: PSA Oxygen Plants were dedicated at District Hospital Dimapur and Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR) Dimapur by Rev S Vitoshe Swu, President, Dimapur Baptist Pastor’s Fellowship and Pastor Supong Jamir respectively.

Rev S Vitoshe Swu dedicated the 200 LPM PSA Oxygen plant at District Hospital Dimapur while Pastor Supong Jamir dedicated the 1000 LPM PSA Oxygen plant at CIHSR. 

Both the oxygen plants were set up under Prime Minister's Citizens Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situation (PM CARES) Fund to meet the demand of oxygen for COVID-19 patient in the district.

Rev S Vitoshe Swu in his inaugural speech at District Hospital Dimapur stated that he considers the pandemic a ‘blessing in disguise’ as people have learnt the value of health. “Because of the pandemic, the government has developed and improved a lot in the health sector such as setting up of oxygen plants and setting up other health equipments and infrastructure in all the District Hospitals in the State,” he observed. 

The programme at District Hospital was chaired by Dr Khrielasanuo Metha, Medical Superintendent, DH Dimapur and invocation prayer was delivered by Rev Yhunlo Thong. Dr Antoly Suu, Dy CMO gave the welcome address while the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr Keveduyi Theyo, Consultant.

At CIHSR, Dr Sedevi Angami, Director gave an introduction of the setting up of the PSA oxygen plant while Er Kalyan, Bio Medical Technician gave a brief explanation on the functioning of the plant in the presence of Dr Viu Meru, Dy Director. 

Kiphire: The 250 LPM PSA Oxygen Plant was inaugurated at District Hospital Kiphire by Deputy Commissioner, Kiphire T Wati Aier, on October 7.

In his inaugural speech, the DC mentioned that Kiphire was very fortunate to have one and acknowledged the Medical department for its tireless work and urged upon the department to continue the services in the future.

Earlier, welcome address was delivered by Dr E Motsuthung Patton, Chief Medical Officer, Kiphire, during which he mentioned the importance of the Oxygen Plant stating that it will be of immense help to the district not only during the pandemic but also in the years to come. Alison, Associate Pastor, KTBL pronouncing the invocation and Dr Holiba A Anar, MO DHK, proposing the vote of thanks.

Representatives from the District Administration, Police, Medical department, Assam Rifles, and leaders from tribal and civil society organisations attended the programme.

Noklak: Deputy Commissioner, Noklak Hiazu Meru inspected the installation process of PSA plant at District Hospital, Noklak. During the inspection, Meru expressed appreciation for the timely construction of building and installation process which is going on. 

SMO District Hospital Noklak, Dr Victor NC highlighted on the ongoing construction and installation process of PSA plant. Dr Victor also shared the problems and requirements in the district hospital.

The DC was accompanied by DTF on COVID-19 Noklak members.
