Nagaland School Education dept strengthening various initiatives

Advisor Food & Civil Supplies and Legal Metrology & Consumer Protection, KT Sukhalu, today appreciated the difficult task undertaken by the School Education department in compiling the statistics of the number of teachers in the state and various other initiatives such as strengthening the Education Management Information System, developing Teachers' Attendance Monitoring System, and strengthening of Continuous Professional Development through decentralized capacity building etc.

Participating in the discussion on the motion of thanks to the Governor’s address here today at the fourth session of 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Sukhalu made suggestion that the department also consider recruitment of in-service GT/PGT teachers having served a minimum of 15 continuous years of service for lateral entry to the post of Assistant Director through interview system.
One must appreciate the wisdom of the Chief Minister for having the vision for development in the State by acquiring 200 acres of land for setting up of an Indian Institute of Science Education & Research (ISER) project in the State, he said. We look forward to the Governor’s intervention for the early establishment of the institute, he said.

He said that the initiatives taken by the PWD (R&B) and PWD (NH) for improving the condition of roads under various Central and State schemes are appreciated. “There is definitely visible improvement in the construction of roads. However, there much more to be done,” he said and suggested that there should be equitable road projects (Both Central & State) taken up in all the 60 constituencies.
He welcomed the entry of Pawan Hans helicopter service in the state, adding that it will definitely ease travel for all the citizens especially during emergencies and medical treatment of the citizens.

He maintained that the celebration of International Year of Millet 2023 and signing of MoU by Farmers Producers companies in Tuensang and Mon with Bright Coop Agro Kolkota for supply of foxtail millets will definitely give a boost to the farmers.
In this regard, he said that the Department of Food & Civil Supplies has also written to the Ministry of Food for including millet under the Price Stabilizing Fund scheme to encourage farmers and support their livelihood.

He maintained that there has been tremendous improvement in development of tourism in the State and successful conduct of the Hornbill Festival over the years which draw more and more domestic and foreign tourists to the state.

Stating that Nagaland will be celebrating the silver jubilee of the Hornbill festival this year, Sukhalu suggested innovations in traffic and crowd management for the ease of everyone.

Also participating in the discussion, Housing and Mechanical Engineering Minister, P Bashangmongba Chang said that the recent announcement made by the Government of India for suspension of Free Movement Regime (FMR) along the Indo-Myanmar border has evoked the concern and anxiety among our people.

He thanked the State Government for timely intervention on the matter by requesting the Central Government to reconsider its decision in this regard and also to make appropriate regulations for movement of people across the borders in consultation with the State Government.

“We must appreciate the efforts of the Government and the cooperation extended by the people for passing the Nagaland Municipal Act, 2023.This will pave way for good governance at the grass root level in urban sectors,” he said.
