The Department of Power, Nagaland is constructing a 220/132/33kV Substation with associated transmission lines at Tsitrongse (Diezephe) which will enhance the capacity for catering power supply to the four districts of Dimapur, Chümoukedima, Niuland and Peren.
Addressing the eighth session of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) in Kohima on March 2, Nagaland Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla said the project, sanctioned by Ministry of DoNER under PM-DeVINE at a cost of Rs.132.37 crore is scheduled for completion by September 2026.
The transmission capacity of the existing 132/66/33kV, 200 MVA Nagarjan Substation, Dimapur has also been successfully upgraded to 350 MVA.
The harnessing of renewable energy is also going to see augmentation in the State with the Department of New and Renewable Energy taking up installation of 400 solar water pumps, which are expected to uplift the economic status of the farmers by helping produce more yields, Bhalla said.
The Water Resources Department in line with Jal Shakti Abhiyan Campaign, is taking up creation of another 42 water bodies in 9 districts i.e Chumoukedima, Dimapur, Kohima, Mokokchung, Mon, Longleng, Phek, Tuensang & Wokha amounting to Rs.150.00 lakh, and an Integrated Model Settled Farming Project at Mongsenyimti village in Mokokchung at Rs.150.00 lakh.
He said that the tourism department will further also develop several iconic tourist destinations across the state with support under SASCI.
He said that the Government of Nagaland, through NSDMA, has further strengthened disaster resilience by establishing ELIONA, a state-level AI supercomputing facility for real-time climate risk analysis and decision-making.
The Government continues to prioritize capacity building of Government employees for effective governance and the Personnel & Administrative Reforms Department in collaboration with the Administrative Training Institute, has initiated intensive training programmes both outside and within the state.
