
KOHIMA, JULY 23 (MExN): The Government of Nagaland has notified that the administrative boundaries of all districts, subdivisions, tehsils, municipalities, and villages in the state will be frozen with effect from December 31, 2025, in preparation for Census 2027.
As per the notification issued by the Home Department (General Administration Branch-I) and signed by Chief Secretary Dr J Alam, IAS, the boundary freeze will remain in force from January 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027. The decision is in accordance with Rule 8 (iv) of the Census Rules, 1990, framed under the Census Act, 1948, which mandates the freezing of jurisdictional boundaries during census operations.
