KIPHIRE, MARCH 2 (MExN): The district-level National Science Day was celebrated in Kiphire on Saturday, organized by the Nagaland Science & Technology Council (NASTEC) under the Department of Science & Technology, Government of Nagaland. Hosted by Saramati View Modern School, the event was held under the theme “Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science & Innovation for Viksit Bharat.”

A total of 18 schools, including 14 from Kiphire Town and four government schools from neighboring villages, participated in the event. The celebration saw the attendance of 109 students and 17 guide teachers, bringing the total number of participants to 152.

The event began with a formal program hosted by Asela Rothrong of the host school. Headmaster Bose C.P. spoke briefly about the contributions of Dr. C.V. Raman. A pop-up quiz during the formal session engaged both students and guide teachers. Judges for various competitions were selected from guide teachers of non-participating schools.

The quiz competition featured four rounds, with 12 schools participating. Liya Assumi (Class 8) and Kharola (Class 10) of Cambridge High School secured first place. Arpita Saha (Class 10) and Jamil Ahmed of Saramati View Modern School finished second, while Kamrila and Nengsela (Class 9) of Government Higher Secondary School took third.

In the LED light connection contest, Adili Jinger (Class 8) from Loyola Higher Secondary School won first place. A “Fancy Dress with a Science Twist” competition, where students dressed as scientists and shared insights on their chosen figures, saw Lydia Ayonger (Class 6) from Loyola Higher Secondary School win first place as Marie Curie. Apika T. Sangtam (Class 10) of Saramati View Modern School took second as Nikola Tesla, while T. Thrilongse (Class 10) of Cambridge High School secured third place as Dr. C.V. Raman.

The Science Exhibition featured eight schools. Ayingla Anar (Class 9) and Nanju (Class 6) of Good Shepherd High School won first place. Thrijungla A. Jinger and Viboli (Class 8) of Saramati View Modern School placed second, while Chumrise Ayonger (Class 10) and Munguli L. Sangtam (Class 5) secured third.

A light lunch was served before certificates and cash prizes were distributed to winners, with participation certificates awarded to all attendees.
