Kohima, August 11 (MExN): The National Cadet Corps (NCC) concluded its Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC) in Wokha, Nagaland, on August 10. The camp, which began on August 1, brought together 400 NCC cadets and Associated NCC Officers (ANOs) from various colleges and schools across the southern districts of Nagaland for ten days of intensive training.
The camp was inaugurated on August 2 by the Group Commander of the NCC Group in Nagaland, who encouraged the cadets to make the most of the opportunities provided by the NCC. Hosted by an Assam Rifles battalion, the camp offered cadets a taste of regimented military life, including drills, physical fitness, weapon training, and map reading.
In addition to military training, the cadets were also educated on relevant contemporary issues such as disaster management, firefighting, combating drug abuse, and skill development initiatives in Nagaland. The program also highlighted career opportunities in the armed forces.
The camp culminated in a vibrant cultural program on the penultimate evening, where the Camp Commandant lauded the cadets for their enthusiastic participation in all activities. For many of the young participants, this camp was their first experience of communal living and quasi-military training, providing them with a valuable understanding of the NCC's core values of unity and discipline.
