Dimapur, January 27 (MExN): The Naga Council Dimapur went ahead with its meeting scheduled on January 27 at its Council Conference Hall in Nyamo Lotha Road, Dimapur.
Earlier, in a press note appended by its Vice President G K Rengma and General Secretary, Thsapongkyu Sangtam the NCD acknowledged that “a matter is sub-judice before a court…”
However, it also reasoned that, “any issue or matter has to be reasoned and resolved through sittings and meetings and NCD has convened the meeting taking into consideration a matter in hand which has to be made aware and inform its bonafide Councilors.”
A press release from the NCD later informed that the meeting which was presided by its Vice-President (Adm) Etsungmomo Kikon saw the attendance of 22 Councilors out of the total 30.
It said that a minute agenda the celebration of 75th Anniversary of NCD was placed before the councilors for deliberation along with regulations for burials at the New Naga Cemetery.
The house deliberated at length and reaffirmed its earlier resolution for the model of uniform burial design and resolved to open the New Naga Cemetery site for burials with the following sets of regulation.
According to the NCD approved regulation, the width and breadth of each grave will be 3 x 7 ft and the depth at 5 feet from the ground level. Tomb construction shall be allowed only up to a uniform 1 ft above the ground level and each tomb (burial) site shall have an interval distance of 1 ft from both sides.
It also specified that an area of 1ft surrounding the tomb was to be plastered and each tombstone should stand at 2 x 1 ½ ft.
