The NDPP-BJP coalition would retain power and solve all problems of the state of Nagaland, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said during an election rally in Mon Town on Monday. He also promised to bring the Naga peace talks to a successful end and address the issues raised by the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO), which has been demanding a separate state.

During his speech, Shah reiterated the BJP's commitment towards the Naga peace talks and stated that “Our aim is to make peace talks successful and solve the Naga political problem quickly.” The BJP leader also said that the issues raised by ENPO were legitimate and assured them that the new government, led by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, would resolve them. Shah also took the opportunity to criticize the Congress and its leader, Rahul Gandhi, saying that the Congress would not be visible even through a telescope after the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. He alleged that the tendency of the Congress to indulge in mud-slinging against Prime Minister Narendra Modi had increased since Rahul Gandhi became its leader. Shah’s visit was the first by any Union Home Minister to Mon district, one of the six districts under the ENPO. The other districts include Tuensang, Kiphire, Longleng, Noklak and Shamator.
