NDPP censures NPF’s ‘absurd’ claims on NSSB

Dimapur, August 5 (MExN): The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) today termed the   Naga People’s Front’s (NPF) claim on NSSB as “absurd” and said that “the then government paid only lip service and did nothing to bring it to fruition.”

The NPF on August 3 said that the setting up of Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB) was put in motion by the DAN-III government under TR Zeliang then Chief Minister of Nagaland, during the latter part of 2017.

In a rejoinder from its Media & Communication Committee, the NDPP attacked the opposition on the issue, among other things, and said that the NPF “failed to do it and yet they want to take credit for it!.”

As stated in the past, the NDPP stands for “transparency and meritocracy and the government’s decision to institute the SSB is towards our commitment of realising these aspirations,” the Party said.

It also alleged that the then  “DAN-III regime had proved time and again, how it needed the people to take matters into their own hands in order that the government hear their voice.”

It said that the opposition party is “unable to accept their failures and have therefore decided to attack the present leaders of the PDA for orchestrating various situations in the state.”

The NPF have “forgotten” how to play the role of a constructive and responsible opposition, the NDPP charged.
“By resorting to petty paper wars, dragging in the ruling dispensation on non-issues and asking for the current dispensation to step down on their whims and fancies only proves that the oldest regional party has lost direction and the political fortitude,” the party said in the rejoinder.

Further, the party also took a jibe at the NPF’s “opposition-less ministry,” and the demand of the NPF for the PDA Government to step down, and claimed that the “The NPF has fallen into the habit of pointing fingers at others for all its failures.”
“Constitutionally-installed Governments the world over does not function or cease to function at the whims and fancies of a few who dearly wish to take over the helms of affairs of the State,” it stated.
