Kohima, September 11 (MExN): As part of efforts to enhance Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in schools and education departments across Nagaland, the NECTAR project has distributed laptops to various institutions. The initiative aims to support the digitization of education management, a key mandate of the National Education Policy (2020) and the Department of School Education’s policies.
Laptops were distributed to 249 Government High Schools, 55 Government Higher Secondary Schools, District Education Offices, and Sub-Divisional Education Offices under the Directorate of School Education (DoSE). Additionally, laptops were issued to the SCERT, eight DIETs, NBSE office, and the Department of School Education (Administrative Office).
At a formal event held at the Directorate of School Education on September 11, Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, Advisor for School Education & SCERT, handed over the laptops to the schools and departments.
In her welcome address, Avelu Ruho, Joint Secretary of DSE and Deputy Project Director of NECTAR, emphasized the importance of using the laptops for efficient data management and school administration. She urged schools and establishments to ensure that the laptops remain on-site to support their ICT needs.
Thavaseelan K, Principal Director of DoSE and Project Director of NECTAR, highlighted the significance of the laptops in achieving the project’s goals. He stated that the distribution will improve school governance, teaching practices, and learning environments, as well as boost the Education Management Information System.
In his keynote address, Dr. Yhome outlined that the distribution of laptops is a key component of the NECTAR project’s efforts to streamline the governance system. He also mentioned plans to establish the Nagaland Education Service and Nagaland Education Administrative Service, stressing the need for data-driven processes to improve governance in the education sector.
The remaining schools across Nagaland are expected to collect their laptops from the NECTAR office by September 20.
