Dimapur DC directs BLOs Dimapur, July 21 (MExN): In view of the ongoing revision of Electoral Roll in the district, the Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur has directed all the BLOs to carry out the revision exercise diligently as per the prescribed guidelines and direction issued by the Election Commission of India and the DC office. The DC further directed village council chairmen, GBs in rural areas and the Ward authority/GBs in urban area to extend all possible help/assistance to the BLOs in the revision exercise dutifully. Kohima DC informs DIMAPUR, JULY 21 (MExN): The Deputy Commissioner Kohima has issued a circular informing about the schedule for EVMs and VVPAT system demonstrations to be held in several areas with regard to the Bye Election to the 10 Northern Angami 1 A/C. The circular informed that the demonstrations will be held at T Khel council hall, D Khel council hall, L Khel council hall, P Khel council hall, Chedima/Chedima Model Village council hall, Bayavu community hall, Auditorium Razukhrie HSS and North Block panchayat on July 22. The first 4 demonstrations will be held from 7:00am to 1:00pm, while the remaining 4 will be held from 2:30pm to 6:30pm. One held for extortion Dimapur, July 21 (MExN): The Anti Extortion Team (AET) of Dimapur Police on July 12 arrested one Bipon Deb, a resident of Thahekhu village, Dimapur, while he was trying to extort money from business establishment at NL Road, Dimapur. Money in cash and leaflets of NNC (PCN) were also seized from his possession, a press release from the Dimapur Police PRO stated. Huge consignment of liquor seized Dimapur, July 21 (MExN): The Dimapur Police on July 13 seized a huge consignment of illegal liquor from a truck which was trying to enter the state from Assam. The truck bearing registration AS-01 CC 2993 with approximately 1000 cases of assorted IMFL was intercepted at LRC Colony, Dimapur, a press release from the PRO, Dimapur Police informed. In this connection, one Kailash Sahu has been arrested. In a separate incident, a truck bearing NL-05G 0409 was intercepted at 7th Mile area, Dimapur on July 16 and 30 cases of assorted IMFL was seized, which was found concealed among other goods. In this connection, one Jalaluddin has been arrested, the PRO informed. Two held with contraband ganja Dimapur, July 21 (MExN): Two persons were arrested in separate incidents for possession of contraband ganja. In the first incident, the 32 Assam Rifles on July 13 produced before the Sub Urban Police Station, Dimapur approximately 330 kgs of contraband Ganja found packed in 21 different packets. The contraband was seized from the possession of one Joypaul Poumai when his vehicle bearing registration NL-02C 9625 was intercepted at Diezephe Village, Dimapur, a press release from the PRO, Dimapur Police informed. In the other incident, the Dimapur Police arrested one Dhan Bahadur after his vehicle bearing registration NL-05C 0611 was intercepted at Super Market area, Dimapur on July 17 loaded with approximately 100 kgs of contraband Ganja packed in 10 packets, the PRO informed. Social work in Tuensang Tuensang, July 21 (MExN): All the departments and wards unions of Tuensang Town have been informed that there will be a mass social work within Tuensang Town on July 22 starting from 6:00 am, organized by Tuensang Town Council. Therefore, all the employees and wards presidents have been informed to initiate cleaning of their respective offices and wards.
