The Nagaland Football Coaches’ Association (NFCA) was formally launched here today at a function held Hotel Ura. This body was formed right after the felicitation programme of All India Football Federation (AIFF) ‘D’ License Course 2016.
The idea behind the formation of this body is to work for the welfare of the football license coaches and to carry forward the game of football in the right perspective.
Among the targeted activities included: refresher course to upgrade the skills of license coaches, coaching clinic, referee clinic etc.
The NFCA team for the tenure 2016-19 was also announced at the function. Presently, there are 68 ‘D’ license coaches, 12 ‘C’ license coaches and 2 ‘B’ Licence coaches in the state, said NFCA president Roko Angami. Gracing the function as the guest of honour, Retired Director General of Police, K. Kire was appreciative of the formation of this body, saying that it was needed since long time back.
He was optimistic that the NFCA will function effectively and expressed desire to see a positive result soon. Kire said Manipur and Mizoram today produced many top class players and sending them to various clubs in the country. He regretted that Nagaland rarely produce top class players to play at the various level in the country. In this, he urged the coaches to explore and concentrate on building the capability of players. Also stating that there is enormous talent of youth in the rural areas, he called upon the coaching fraternity to reach out and nurture them. Roko Angami urged each and every individual to come forward and work in unison to develop football in Nagaland.
Extending solidarity with NFCA, Colo Mero, Director, Life Sports & Life Ministries, was hopeful that the Association will make a difference and take football forward. “We have potential and we can surely make it happen,” he said.
