NFR actively taking part in Swachhata campaign 2024: CPRO

Maligaon, October 1 (MExN): The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is actively participating in the ongoing nationwide “Swachhata Hi Seva 2024” campaign, a movement focused on promoting cleanliness and environmental sustainability.

This initiative, which commenced on September 16, will conclude on October 2, on Swachh Bharat Diwas, as a tribute to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Swachh Bharat Mission.

As per the release from the NFR CPRO, the Swachhata campaign at the NFR was launched on September 16 with a Swachhata Pledge at its headquarters, where all PHODs, HODs, and staff took part.

A Safai Mitra Suraksha Shivir was organised at Guwahati Railway Station, where PPE kits along with safety gear were distributed to Safai Mitras, and they were briefed about various central government schemes, it said.

As part of the event, health check-up camps for Safai Mitras were held at the Divisional Railway Hospitals of New Tinsukia, Dibrugarh Town, Rangiya, and Dibrugarh.

NFR General Manager, Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, and other senior officials, along with family members, participated in a walkathon from Maligaon Officers Colony to Railway Stadium on September 19.

Shrivastava, as well as the NFR General Manager (Construction) Arun Kumar Chaudhary, also led other senior officers during a plantation drive in Maligaon, under the initiative “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” during the campaign.

A sale of recycled plastic waste products was also organized at Guwahati Station, promoting the “Waste to Art” concept as part of the campaign, the release said.

A door-to-door cleanliness awareness and garbage collection drive is being conducted across the Railway Colonies of the NFR to sensitize people about maintaining clean and hygienic surroundings, it added.
