Maligaon, May 13 (MExN): The Central Hospital of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) participated in the nationwide Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Day on May 10, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening newborn healthcare and reducing preventable neonatal deaths.

According to a press release, 15 healthcare professionals took part in a specialised training session conducted at the Central Hospital, Maligaon, as part of the programme.

The training was led by Immanuel Tuolor, Senior Divisional Medical Officer, Department of Paediatrics, who served as the lead instructor. The event was coordinated by KMSK Krishna, also from the Department of Paediatrics.

The nationwide initiative was organised under the leadership of the National Neonatology Forum in collaboration with the Government of India, the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP), the Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of India (FOGSI), and the Trained Nurses’ Association of India (TNAI).

As per the NFR, the programme aimed to strengthen life-saving capacity at delivery points by ensuring the availability of at least one trained healthcare provider for every newborn.

It also highlighted the importance of timely intervention during the critical “golden minute” after birth, when immediate resuscitation support can significantly improve survival outcomes.

Through its participation, the Central Hospital reaffirmed NFR’s commitment to quality healthcare services and the continuous capacity building of medical professionals, it added.
