NFR registers Rs 3367.61 revenue from parcel loading

Maligaon, January 11 (MExN): During the year 2021-22 up to December, 2021 NF Railway achieved revenue to the tune of  Rs 3367.61 lakh from parcel loading registering a growth more than 46 percent in comparison to previous year for the corresponding period. 

During the period from April 1 to December 31, 2021, NF Railway transported commodities of more than 98 thousand tonnes through parcel trains and parcel vans as against 61.53 thousand tonnes transported during the corresponding period of last year; it is an increase of 59.30%. 

Parcel transportation by rail is the cost-effective, quickest and environment-friendly option for customers. In addition to time-tabled parcel special trains, NF Railway has also been running demand based parcel vans successfully. Efforts of Business Development Units (BDUs) at all the Divisions also at Zonal Head Quarters level have provided easy access to businessmen and traders to transport their goods quickly. 

Business Development Units of NF Railway are having frequent interactions with Trade & Industry players within their respective areas to find new traffic for movement by train. During the last week, BDU team of Tinsukia division held a virtual conference with the major industry partners & PSUs of Upper Assam wherein newly launched “Gati Shakti Multi-model Cargo Terminal Policy” was discussed. A brief presentation was made for benefit of customers and their queries were also attended. As a part of BDU efforts, Tinsukia division also conducted a virtual meeting with coal loading parties. Challenges faced by them during loading/unloading were discussed and measures for resolution of the issues were deliberated upon. Moreover, on January 6, 2022 BDU team of Alipurduar division held meeting with potato merchant and various issues related to potato loading from Mathabhanga station were discussed.  

Due to sustained effort of BDU team of Alipurduar division, transportation of potato (POKHRAJ variety) having short shelf life has started from Dhupguri to Bhanga in a mini rake of 20 BCN. This was previously transported by roadways and now shifted to railways.
