MALIGAON, MARCH 23 (MExN): The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) unloaded 1,137 freight rakes in February 2025, bringing the total count of unloaded rakes to 11,803 by the end of the month, the railway said in a statement Sunday.
A total of 589 rakes were unloaded in Assam, including 268 carrying essential commodities. Tripura saw 113 rakes unloaded, followed by 19 in Nagaland, 12 in Manipur, nine each in Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram, 200 in West Bengal, and 186 in Bihar, all within NFR’s jurisdiction.
NFR facilitated the transportation of essential goods such as rice from the Food Corporation of India, sugar, salt, edible oil, food grains, fertilizers, fuel, and coal. Continuous monitoring has helped reduce turnaround times and improve unloading efficiency, contributing to a steady increase in freight movement.
