The Chakhesang Regional Council (NNC) wishes to raise certain issues pertaining to Th. Muivah’s recent statements admitting that NNC is the right political institution, AZ Phizo, the right leader, and NNC had taken the right decision at the right time which is responsible for laying a solid political foundation; and that the Shillong Accord of 1975 is solely responsible for creating the political misunderstanding and differences.
Mr. Th. Muivah being a one-time General Secretary of the NNC is well aware of the fact that the NNC was founded, based on the principle and system of Naga traditional democratic way of life, and under whose banner the Naga declared Independence on 14th August, 1947 and the Voluntary Plebiscite of 16th May 1951 was conducted. And if Mr. Muivah is sincerely admitting that the Nagas survived politically because of the NNC, why, or what was the necessity to impose on the Nagas another political institution, i.e. the NSCN/GPRN with alien ideology quite incompatible with the Naga social and political way of life?
Mr. Th. Muivah has often stated that the Shillong Accord of 1975 was a total sell out of Naga Political rights which was also solely responsible for creating the political differences. If that was so, why Mr. Venyiyi Rhakhu, Tatar FGN, the only representative who refused to sign the Shillong Accord, Mr. T. Venuh, Vice President NNC, Lieut. Col. Vesazo Khamo, Naga Army and other Naga leaders who all out rightly condemned the Shillong Accord were eliminated?
It is common knowledge that Mr. Muivah had the habit of condemning and criticizing our Father of the Nation, late AZ Phizo and had even gone to the extent of branding him a traitor time and again on several occasions. Recently, he has begun praising Phizo, but to realize that Phizo is a good leader and to praise him after condemning him for such a long time is too superficial. If he is really sincere, he should also have the humility to admit where he has been wrong.
Mr. Muivah has stated that he got his political inspiration from the NNC and its slogan “Urra Uvie” but does he know what the slogan stands for. The NNC slogan “Urra Uvie” means complete sovereignty which is the desire of the Nagas and can never be compromised but he has admitted that solution may not be possible in one go.
