Noklak: No new infections on H1N1 reported in Dan village

District Surveillance Committee, Noklak has informed that H1N1 Swine Flu outbreak at Dan village, under Noklak district is under control with no new infections reported. 

During a meeting held under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner, Arikumba, today at DC conference Hall, the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Noklak, Dr Victor informed that no deaths till date has been reported and the affected patients have fully recovered. 

As per the updates provided by the CMO, results of 22 Nasopharyngeal Swab collected by district surveillance team on August 30 and sent to ICMR, Dibrugarh, Assam is yet to be received. 

Updating on the water quality testing by PHE department, he informed that bacteriology tested negative, however, added that chemical analysis is still awaited as per the SDO PHED. 

Earlier during the meeting, the DC gave a brief introduction of the roles and responsibilities of the District Surveillance Committee. 

It was informed that during the meeting, the committee highlighted about Dan village H1N1 outbreak and stated that the District Administration and District Health Authority mobilized and detailed medical team comprising of two medical officers and nurses from District Hospital Noklak and PHC-Pangsha and conducted health camp after receiving information on the outbreak from the 14th Assam Rifles on August 23. The AR had also conducted a health camp at Dan village. 

The CMO further assured that the medical department will carry out follow up actions till outbreak is over. It was suggested that other line departments like veterinary and PHED departments carry out necessary actions. 

The district Epidemiologist presented on the IDSP-IHIP reporting system, Community Based Surveillance and analysis of prevalent diseases in the district. 

As per the outcome of the meeting, it reiterated that any diseases outbreak in the district should be reported first from the village authority/health care workers to the District Administration and District health authority for necessary action.

The District Surveillance Committee also decided to write to the 14th Assam Rifles hospital to include their hospital in the IHIP portal for surveillance in the district.
