CHÜMOUKEDIMA, OCTOBER 5 (MExN): Norman Putsure College, Chümoukedima held its first graduation day on October 4 at the college premises. The event was graced by Sentiyanger Pongen, Additional Secretary, Higher and Technical Education, Nagaland, as the chief guest. He was accompanied by Longshi Kikon, Councillor, Ward 7, Chümoukedima. Dr Eastrose Miachieo, Assistant Professor, Department of History, chaired the programme.

In his welcome address, Dr K. Timothy Langwangbe, Principal of the college, described the occasion as a “red letter day,” marking the achievements of the Class of 2025. He congratulated the students and expressed pride in the milestone achieved by the institution.

In her address, Managing Director Saneinuo Putsure spoke about the vision behind the establishment of the college and the dedication of its founding members. She shared that the first graduating batch holds a special place in her heart and encouraged the students “to be bright and bold in life and remember God’s purpose for them.”

Congratulatory video messages from Chairperson Aseiu Putsure and Co-Chairperson Seyie Putsure, both based in the United States, were also played for the gathering.

Speaking on the occasion, Er Fury Putsure congratulated the outgoing students, faculty, and management for their hard work and commitment in producing the first graduating batch of the institution. He advised the students “to think bright and support the college,” noting that “the college supports them as well.”

Reflecting on the journey of the graduates, Assistant Professor Fuchumlo T. Tsanglao from the Department of Sociology said the Class of 2025 had grown from new students into individuals ready to take on the world with potential for greatness.

Valedictorian Orenvungi Tsanglao of the Department of Sociology described the event as a significant turning point, saying that Norman Putsure College had been “not only a place of education but also a home where students were guided and helped to navigate the highs and lows of life.” She expressed gratitude to the faculty and management “for their sacrifice and love,” adding that the bonds and memories of the Class of 2025 “will always remain.”

Chief guest Sentiyanger Pongen, in his address, urged the graduates to embrace hard work and perseverance in a competitive and changing world. He encouraged them to innovate and adapt alongside academic pursuits and emphasised the importance of entrepreneurship. “Dream, and start with humble beginnings,” he said, while reminding the graduates to “seize the day, seek advice from elders, and walk under God’s guidance and wisdom in everything to become leaders of the nation.”

Awards and certificates were presented by Assistant Professor Nungsangmongla Ozukum, Department of History, followed by a vote of thanks delivered by Assistant Professor Repamenla, Department of Education.

The ceremony featured performances by current students, and the event concluded with a closing prayer led by Assistant Professor Lorence Ngushe from the Department of Sociology.
