A ‘nourishing’ growth: DIMUL sales up 32.58%

Morung Express News Dimapur | November 30   Dimapur District Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd (DIMUL) has recorded a total sales turnover of Rs 1340.80 lakhs for the year 2017-18 reflecting an increase of 32.58% over the preceding year.   This was highlighted in the report of the Board of Directors, DIMUL presented during the 21st Annual General Meeting held at Central Dairy, 7th Mile, Dimapur on Friday. The report was read out by CEO DIMUL, Dr. Mhasizokho. He informed that the physical quantity sale of toned milk had increased by 38.85%, Lassi increased to 14.36%, misti dahi increased to 14.75% and ice cream increased to 30.68%. The market for valued-added dairy products like curd, yoghurt, paneer, ice cream, cheese, baby foods etc are set to grow at 30%, he added. The accelerated growth was attributed to the growing consumption driven by increasing population.   During the year 2017-18, a total of 12.17 lakh litres of milk was procured with daily average of 3334 litres per day, the report stated informing that while the milk demand continues to increase, the milk procurement had steadily improved over the past few years.   Dr. Mhasizokho also said that milk consumption in the country was increasing at about five percent per annum and the total expenditure on milk and milk products per Indian family was more than 20%. “The dairy sector today provides 80 million farm households with the triple benefits of nutritive food, supplementary income and year round productive self-employment.   During the programme, Kikhruru Dairy Cooperative Society was awarded the best dairy cooperative society, best retailer awarded to M/s H.B Bakery, Chümoukedima and best dealer awarded to M/s Sashikala Ao, Dimapur. Other awards including best worker and best producers were also presented.   Joint Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Dimapur, Tiyongmeren Jamir in his brief speech said DIMUL was the pioneer of milk union in the state and urged the suppliers to deliver in time and with the correct quantity.
