The Naga People’s Front (NPF) Mokokchung Division (Rio & TR Zeliang Group) held its annual executive meeting at the NPF Division office on November 22 which was attended by all the frontals, the assembly constituency units, party workers and also the in-charge of NPF Mokokchung Division, Nuklutoshi, Advisor, Food & Civil Supplies.
The Mokokchung Division In-charge, while speaking at the meeting, stressed on the need of a common Naga platform as the present Naga society is very much divided. He said that the Naga Hoho is there which represents some tribes, the ENPO, the CNTC etc which also represent a section of tribes only; therefore he strongly urged the NPF party leaders and workers to propagate the message and to work to bring a common Naga platform so that the people can discuss about the Indo-Naga political issue for a solution to arrive at.
In this regard, he reminded about the resolution of the Naga legislators under the banner of Nagaland Legislators Forum for political solution who have asked Government of India to postpone the election if a solution with the Naga political groups is forthcoming. He also strongly urged the gathered party leaders to demand for solution and not election ‘if a solution is indeed coming within the next few months’.
The NPF Mokokchung Division also adopted a six-point resolution which was duly accepted by the party. The NPF Mokokchung Division welcomed the new appointment of Nuklutoshi Adviser, Food & Civil Supplies Nagaland and C Apok Jamir Parliamentary Secretary tourism as the NPF Mokokchung in-charge and Assistant In-charge respectively, ‘as highly desired by the division’.
It reaffirmed its support to NPF president Neiphiu Rio and Chief Minister, TR Zeliang. It also welcomed the initiative of TR Zeliang in convening all political parties to move jointly the Government of India for early Indo-Naga political settlement before the Nagaland state General Election early next year.
The Mokokchung division reiterated its earlier decision of 24th October 2017 wherein an eight member team was set up, led by Neiphiu Rio, president NPF party, and Chief Minister TR Zeliang to pursue vigorously with the Election Commission of India for quick delivery of justice to award the ‘Cock’ symbol to the NPF led by Rio and Zeliang, who command an overwhelming majority and support from both the legislative wing and the organization structures of the NPF party.
The division also endorsed a five-point resolution ‘adopted by the parliamentary working committee on November 17, wherein the members of the Nagaland Legislature Forum deliberated for an honorable, acceptable and inclusive settlement of the Indo-Naga political issue.
The Mokokchung division appealed to all the party rank and file to cohesively run the affairs of the party and further appealed to the party legislators to extend its unwavering support and guidance to the various party organizations/division (s)/assembly constituency (s) for the smooth functioning, with an aim to scale furthermore success of the NPF party.
