Kohima, Nov 2 (MExN): The Naga Peoples Movement for Human Rights has expressed its anxiety towards KC Angami, Pele Khezhie and Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu, and also to their family members, of Kohima Village, who are currently affected with traumatic stresses, on account of the demand letter for money addressed to them from the NSCN-IM (A Group) and the dire and vile threats issued against them and some of their near and dear ones.
NPMHR in a release today said it is fully aware of the manner in which the processes of ends and means are becoming irrelevant embodiments of livelihood ethics and how it is affecting Nagas from different walks of life. “We are also worried about the elements of desperateness, which often comes into stigmatizing manifestation, when social values and communitarian spirits are fabricated with excess politicization.
While extending our distress, the Naga Peoples Movement for Human Rights also appreciates the earnestness initiated by the various social groups of Kohima Village, under the aegis of its apex Council and Youth Organization, in attempting to revoke the psychosis of social depression at this moment and in taking care to arrest the lubricants of rumours that are often aggravating,” the release said.
Taking this as a reflection of our times, where social phenomena are often overlooked because of highly aestheticized politics, we seriously object to the pernicious audacity of imposters searching for the spoils of our national struggle, it added.
NPMHR further stated that it is particularly irked by the manner in which Tangkhul and Sumi communities were insidiously invoked as part of the mafiadom conspiracy agendum, which needs precautionary attention so as not to further communalize the fragile tendencies of our inhibitions. It has implored upon the GPRN to take serious note of the situation and establish the veracity of the impersonation and its uneasy implications. The organisation has also noted with equal tenor of respite the desecration of Khedi Baptist Church as a primal scene to advance evil designs.
While appreciating the Nagaland Police for the arrest of five individuals in this connection, NPMHR has expressed dismay over the curious detachment in which the urgency of the case has been handled.
“The Naga Peoples Movement for Human Rights is closely and alternatively following the case and urges upon the Naga public for vigilance, and the concerned agencies for immediate dispensation of such horrendous criminal activities. We also pray for the physical comfort and the recovery of the psychically affected individuals and community,” the release said.
