NPYC seeks clarification

The Nagaland Pradesh Youth Congress (NPYC) once again reiterates that it is committed to strive and work for the upliftment of the common people. As part of the country’s largest political organization it has its duties and function which is done under the directives of the higher body both at the State Level and National Level. And under the directives and guidance of the Indian Youth Congress, members of the Nagaland Pradesh Youth Congress had participated in the National Level Training Camp for the “Aam Admi Ka Sipahi (AAKS)” in Hyderabad, where training programme on the NREGA, the RTI Act 2005 etc; was also given. Thereafter State Level Co-ordinator of “AAKS” for the state of Nagaland was set up and appointment approved by the Indian Youth Congress with Mr. Dokiu Kecham Vice President NPYC as the team leader. Since then training on flagship programmes were imparted to the common people in the districts of Mon, Wokha, Peren, Zunheboto and 2 (two) R.D. Blocks under Tuensang district. The training programmes proved very successful as the common people became aware of their due rights and many expressed their profound gratitude to the AAKS for reaching out to them.

However, it is very unfortunate to observe that some people don’t seem to appreciate the genuine contribution and sacrifices made towards the common people by the AAKS. For reasons best known to him, the Programme Officer (BDO) of Shamatore R.D Block under Tuensang district had at one time in a perpetrate manner told to a village elder who had gone to meet him regarding the NREGA fund for his village that “If Dokiu hires NSCN (K) I will also hire NSCN (K) and if Dokiu hires NSCN (IM) then I will also hire NSCN (IM) and whatever Dokiu does I will also do.” Therefore we would like to state it very clearly here that, as AAKS it is not in the duty line for any member of the NPYC to hire any group or faction of Naga National Workers in any manner. The AAKS is a pro common peoples’ body and their duty is to reach out to the rural masses by educating and let them know of the good programmes initiated for their welfare by the Congress led UPA Government at the Centre. And so, if the Programme Officer (BDO) of Shamatore R.D block is feeling uncomfortable with the pro common peoples’ activities of AAKS then he can lodge a complaint report about it to the Indian Youth Congress Office in New Delhi or correspond directly with the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India New Delhi expressing his displeasure on the role of the AAKS. The said Programme Officer (BDO) is also asked to spell out his intentions and clarify as to why he would hire Naga National Workers with the specific mention of the State Level Co-ordinator of AAKS’s name within 7 (seven) days of publication of this Press Release.

Furthermore, the NPYC and the AAKS cautions that should any of their members come to any hann or face any sort of threat or intimidation from any source or angle then they will not remain a silent spectator.
