Mokokchung, September 17 (MExN): PHC Mongsenyimti, which was awarded National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) certification under PHC category in July 2022, held an NQAS knowledge exchange programme with participants from Wokha, Longleng, Zunheboto, Tuensang and Mokokchung districts on September 16.It was organized at PHC Mongsenyimti, Mokokchung by Nagaland Health Project (NHP).
The CMO Mokokchung in a press release stated that Dr Maongkala, MO, PHC Mongsenyimti, presented a detailed account on PHC Mongsenyimti’s journey to NQAS.
She highlighted the important role of staff co-operation and collaboration, coupled with the relentless support from the Chief Medical Officer and Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Mokokchung, the supportive and active role of Quality Manager of the district, the infrastructural development aided/funded by Nagaland Health Project, the support provided by the HCMC, MLA and active participation/contribution by the community of Mongsenyimti village paved the way towards NQAS certification.
She imparted to the participants three key determinants that a facility must possess before pushing forward for certification, namely, good infrastructure, community participation and proper documentation. Besides the key factors, she added on the protocols and procedures to be followed according to the need of the facility, productive work division among the staff and self assessment on the areas of concern.
Earlier, Dr Limatula Aier, Chief Medical Officer, Mokokchung delivered the opening remark. Dr Thomas Keppen, Deputy Director, DH&FW Kohima speaking on ‘introduction to knowledge exchange on NQAS’ enlightened the participants on the definition of quality and why it is needed in a health centre. He made an important note on the purpose of Knowledge exchange programme that NHP envisions such programme to create opportunities for gross learning among different facilities and facilitate in improving facilities throughout the state.
A Q&A session was carried out among the participants of the programme and observation of the Primary Health Centre was made, followed by feedbacks from the participating districts. The programme was chaired by Pukhato Wotsa, NHP and a vote of thanks was delivered by Achum Patton, NHP.
