NSCN (IM) Zeliad Region calls for new approach to face challenges

DIMAPUR, JUNE 10 (MExN): The NSCN (IM), Zeliad Region today said that “we have to fight in solidarity with all stakeholders” against the COVID-19 pandemic.

A press release from the Central Administrative Officer (CAO), Zeliad Region, NSCN (IM) appreciated the Rongmei peoples’ representatives attached with district officials, TADC, Rongmei Councils, RSOM, RNYO, Luh Phwam, Church leaders, village authorities, health workers and other civil society members who have selflessly come forward to contribute in kind, cash and prayers to deal with this unprecedented pandemic crisis.

It meanwhile expressed concern at how young people who ventured out to metropolitan cities across the country in search of employment to help their home economy were forced to return home.

It said that in order to help run the Quarantine Centers, the Rongmei people have put forth their best with a sense of responsibility towards their sons and daughters, brothers and sisters.

“The Zeilad Region is concerned of the burden of running the Quarantine Centers in various locations. We have also taken into consideration of the safety angles necessary to help control the spread of the highly contagious virus. Accordingly, we come forward with a token amount to help the 23 Institutional Quarantine Centers located at Tamenglong HQ, Luangba, Longmai, and Khoupum areas, and also to the 47 Community Quarantine Center within the Zeilad Region jurisdiction,” the press release informed.

It meanwhile pointed out that the pandemic has exposed how ill prepared the administrative and health sectors are. “The pace of innovative planning was also below level. Nevertheless, we must stay positive and take control of our new approach as we re-strategize to face the challenge ahead, without losing focus of our common destiny,” the release added.

Calling for a “new meaning to our economic activities,” the NSCN (IM), Zeliad Region called for strengthening the home economy, ensuring transparent governance to the grassroots level of village institutions, rejuvenation of the social fabric of “Nagaism,” and to “work in solidarity with God.”
