Four trekkers from Mumbai lost their way in Dzükou Valley on Sunday. Three men and one woman, including a married couple, lost their way after climbing up the hills of Dzükou without a local guide. The Nagaland State Disaster Management Agency launched an emergency operation to find the trekkers, which was expected to be completed by 12:00 am. Officer on Special Duty to the NSDMA, Home Department, Johnny Rongmei, confirmed to The Morung Express that the trekkers were lost. “They contacted their family members by phone when they found signal from a peak. The family members contacted Catholic fathers, who got across to NSDMA, following which we send an emergency response team to Dzükou at around 9:30 pm,” said Rongmei. Further, “Our team is now in touch with them. We should be able to locate them using geo coordinates based on their mobile phone networks.” The trekkers, he said, had some food with them, but were soaking wet after Sunday’s heavy rain fall and hail storm.
