NSDMA to distribute relief rice to all districts of Nagaland

Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), Home department, will be distributing relief rice to all the districts affected by the lockdown measures in the wake of COVID-19 outbreak.

 

NSDMA secretary Lhouchalie Viya informed that the relief rice shall be distributed to homeless stranded people including migrant labourers, all daily wage earners and labourers whose livelihood income has been affected, Old Age Homes, orphanage, self-financed government hostels/students where/whose supply of essential commodities have been affected, quarantine centres for the containment of spread and villages where the supply of essential goods and commodities have been affected.

 

The distribution will be made through the respective District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), stated Viya in “Office Memorandum,” a copy which was also made available to The Morung Express.

 

The DDMA will coordinate will ULBs and Assistant Director of Supplies in the district to identify genuine and deserving daily wage earners.

 

DDMA will also coordinate with various village councils to maintain transparency in the distribution of the relief rice.

 

It stated that the department of food and civil supplies’ shall be responsible for the logistic arrangement and transportation of the rice to the concerned districts.

 

Meanwhile, in a letter written to the commissioner and secretary for food and civil supplies, the NSDMA secretary requested the later to start the transportation of relief rice to the concerned districts at the earliest, while the financial sanction process is underway.

 

From the total allocation to each district, 50% should be transported in the Ist phase and the remaining 50% should be kept as emergency contingency stock, the letter stated.
