NSDMA warns of heavy rains to lash Nagaland with approaching monsoon

  DIMAPUR, MAY 22 (MExN): The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), Home Department has forecast heavy spell of rain in the coming days which is most likely to continue till the onset of monsoon.   The pre-monsoon rain, according to the NSDMA weather analysis, is expected to increase substantially from May 23 onwards, and could also be accompanied with thunderstorms, high velocity winds and lightning strikes.   These activities are not expected to stop anytime soon and would continue till the onset of Monsoon, which is most likely by May 28, 2018. Expect heavy to very rains to lash Nagaland from May 26 onwards, the weather warning from NSDMA issued in public interest stated.   Along with the shower, threat of landslides, road blockages and some floods looms large over the state.   Intensity of rains would be more over Northern parts of the state such as Longleng, Tizit and Mon. Other districts such as Kiphire, Wokha, Bhandari, Mokokchung, Tuensang, Peren, Dimapur, Kohima, Phek and Zunheboto may experience some very heavy spells, it added.   `In this connection, public have been advised to take precautionary measures during this period.
