Mon District Hospital receives ALS ambulances and hearse vans

Mon, March 4 (MExN): In a significant boost to healthcare services in Mon, two Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulances and two Hearse Vans, funded by the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, were inaugurated on March 4. 

The event, held at the District Hospital, Mon, was graced by Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Mon and Arnab Maitra, Head of Project (HOP), NTPC Bongaigaon. The initiative marks a milestone in the district’s healthcare infrastructure, achieved under the guidance of P Paiwang Konyak, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Nagaland, stated an update received here.

The programme, held in the District Hospital’s conference room, was chaired by Yeangao Konyak, DPM (Q&A), with an invocation by David Konyak, Chaplain of DH Mon, and a welcome address by Dr Aman Konyak, Medical Superintendent of DH Mon.

In his speech, Deputy Commissioner Mon Ajit Kumar Verma expressed gratitude to NTPC for their invaluable contribution to the health sector. He highlighted the long-standing need for hearse vans, stating that ‘these vehicles will now ensure dignified and respectful transportation of the deceased.’

Arnab Maitra, speaking on behalf of NTPC, expressed pride in being part of this noble initiative. He remarked that while their contribution may be small, “it is directed towards the right cause – the welfare of the people of Mon.”

The KU President also addressed the gathering, extending gratitude to NTPC for their support. He stressed the importance of cooperation, sincerity and discipline among healthcare workers in delivering efficient and compassionate healthcare services to the people.

Dr Supongmengla Walling, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Mon, delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging NTPC’s pivotal role in role in uplifting healthcare facilities in the district. She also acknowledged the relentless efforts of the district administration, particularly the Deputy Commissioner, Mon whose networking skills played a crucial role in bringing this valuable assistance to the district.

The programme concluded with the ribbon-cutting ceremony led by the DC Mon and NTPC officials, followed by the official handing over of the ambulances and hearse vans to the health department. 
The event was graced by the presence of the Superintendent of Police, District Welfare Officer, medical officers, and key stakeholders from the district administration and healthcare sector.
