Kohima, November 14 (MExN): The Nagaland University Department of Teacher Education, Kohima Campus has completed the five-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) held under the theme ‘Design, Develop and Deliver Online/Blended Learning Courses’ on November 11.
The programme was organised by Department of Teacher Education, Nagaland University, Kohima Campus, Meriema and sponsored by National Institute of Educational Planning and Administrative, New Delhi.
During the FDP, various concepts, tools, and applications like MOOC, OER, Nearpod, MOODLE, Canvas, Google Classroom, Screencasting, Screenpal, OBS, etc., were explored by the teachers of NU Kohima Campus. The participants’ understanding was assessed by the formative and summative assessments, stated a press release received here.
The FDP will be followed by 30 days of hand-holding post-FDP extended by teachers of NIEPA comprising of Prof K Srinivas, (Head, ICT & Project Management Unit of NIEPA, New Delhi), Prof Pradeep K Misra (Director, Centre for Policy Research in Higher Education) and Dr Amit Gautam (Associate Professor, Department of School and Non-formal Education) to the faculty members of NU for the development and delivery of Online/blended systems.
The valedictory session was graced by Prof Akali Sema, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Nagaland University, Medziphema, Prof Pradeep Kumar Misra, Director, CPRHE, Prof GN Tiwari and Prof PK Pattnaik, nodal officer of the programme under the chair of Dr T Yolila Sangtam.
In her address, Prof Akali Sema, PVC, NU, Medziphema said that learning technological tools started with the break of COVID-19, and now, in this new normal, 21st century skills have become an essential part of teaching-learning.
Prof Sema stressed that teachers should keep learning as it is never too late. Furthermore, she appealed to all the teachers to make the teaching-learning process more learner-centric. Lastly, she quoted that a teacher affects eternity and can never tell where her influence stops.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Prof GN Tiwari appreciated all the efforts from the resource persons, organising team and participants to make the event successful and effective.
Prof Pradeep Kumar Misra appealed to all the participants to implement all the takeaways of the programmes to facilitate learners’ learning. It was followed by feedback from the participants about the FDP. They all vouched for the necessity of the programme and the relevance of the tools explained in the various sessions.
