Lumami, August 29 (MExN): Nagaland University celebrated National Sports Day with a special felicitation ceremony for Vizovor Liezietsu, a distinguished figure in Indian football. The event, held at I. Ihoshe Kinimi Hall, was graced by Prof. M.K. Sinha, Vice Chancellor In-Charge, as the chief guest.
Organized by the university’s Sports Section, the ceremony honored Liezietsu for his significant contributions to Indian football as a goalkeeper. In his address, Prof. Sinha emphasized the importance of sports in daily life and the economy, highlighting the sector’s 11% growth in 2024. He urged for the promotion of sports in both urban and rural areas to expand the economy and create youth employment.
Liezietsu, who represented India in various football competitions, reflected on his career, describing sports as a vital tool for nation-building. He encouraged young athletes to pursue their dreams with dedication, stating, “Success is challenging, but every setback is a chance to learn and grow.”
Dr. Abemo, Registrar of Nagaland University, served as the guest of honor and praised Liezietsu for his excellence in sports. He underscored the importance of hard work in all aspects of life.
The event also included a fitness competition, with winners Wewu-U Kapfo and Y. Yato among PG and Research Scholars, and Pooja Devi and Prof. Ambrish Singh among staff members.
