Dimapur, July 7 (MExN): In an academic exchange fostering international collaboration in chemical sciences, Prof Ambrish Singh from Department of Chemistry, Nagaland University served as Visiting Professor at the University of Science and Technology (USTB), Beijing from June 14 to 30.

Prof Singh was selected among the top Academicians and Researchers in the field for the Visiting Professorship programme, stated an update received here.

The University of Science and Technology, Beijing, is one of China’s top scientific universities, known for its rigorous research programmes and international collaborations in various scientific disciplines.

During this period, he delivered lectures, conducted laboratory visits across multiple locations in China, and engaged in mutual academic exchanges.

Prof Singh delivered lectures attended by postgraduate students and faculty members at USTB, with topics ranging from “High temperature corrosion inhibitors,” to “Use of new methods in monitoring of corrosion,” inspiring new research directions among young chemists. His approachable teaching style and emphasis on practical applications garnered enthusiastic participation and feedback.

Complementing the classroom activities, was extensive laboratory visits, collaborating with Chinese researchers to explore cutting-edge experimental techniques. Notably, he visited laboratories in Beijing, Linfen, and Jixian County in Shanxi Province, which are regions with burgeoning scientific infrastructure and strategic importance in China’s industrial modernization.

In Beijing, he engaged with local researchers on the advancements in development of eco-friendly inhibitors, contributing his expertise towards sustainable industrial processes. Also, substantial discussion took place on the development of better batteries and their consultations with the industries.

During the field visit to Jixian County, known for its rich mineral resources and traditional industries, he examined potential opportunities for integrating green chemistry principles into manufacturing practices.

A key highlight of Prof Singh’s visit was the formal mutual exchange of academic credentials, symbolizing a deepening partnership between Nagaland University and USTB. Both institutions recognized each other’s contributions to scientific research. The visit also opened new avenues for potential joint research initiatives, funding opportunities, and academic exchanges between India and China.

Faculty members at USTB lauded Prof Singh’s insights and dedication, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation in advancing scientific frontiers. As global challenges such as corrosion and sustainable battery technology development demand collaborative efforts, such exchanges are expected to catalyze innovative solutions and promote peaceful scientific diplomacy.

Prof Singh, renowned for research in Corrosion, Electrochemistry and Materials Chemistry, was invited to USTB to strengthen bilateral academic ties and share innovative insights. The fully funded visit marked a milestone in fostering cross-cultural academic collaborations and enhancing research capabilities.

It may be mentioned that Prof Singh had also served as Visiting Professor at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in Almaty, Kazakhstan from June 1 to 30, 2024 where he engaged with PhD and master's students through lectures and seminars.
