NU’s fraternity sensitised on usages of e-resources 

Lumami, November 30 (MExN): Faculty members, students and research scholars of Nagaland University were trained on usages of e-resources available with its library during webinar on November 27. 

Organised by the Central Library of NU, the webinar titled, “E-Resources awareness on Project Muse & EBSCO,” and attended by 68 participants was also aimed at creating awareness of e-resources required in the teaching-learning process.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr T Temjen, Deputy Librarian expounded on the importance of e-resources in higher education institutions and in fulfilling educational objectives.

He also highlighted the growing relevance of e-journals and e-books, especially in the post-COVID-19 era besides highlighting the remote access facility provided by NU for its users.

The internet is an efficient retrieval mechanism for meeting information needs and makes it all possible to get access to these e-resources. This is very important for university libraries since most of them call for more and more research work, he added.

 Tribeet Dewanjee, a business consultant of EBSCO Information Services India Private Limited, the resource person of the morning session, dwelt on EBSCO-Academic Search Elite, an e-resource package subscribed by Nagaland University. 

He demonstrated how to effectively browse these e-resources using filters and new features like the translation service to different languages, text to sound feature, etc and also elaborated on the open-access resources supported by EBSCO service.

 In the afternoon session,  Vaibhav Goel, Manager, Commercial, Balani Infotech Pvt. Ltd shared on  the vision and mission of Project Muse and said highlighted the collaboration and partners endorsed by latter. 

Stating that NU also subscribes to Project Muse (Premium Collection) through eShodh-Sindhu consortia, Goel demonstrated on effective usage of e-resources subscribed under Project Muse.

As per a release from PRO NU, both sessions were followed by interactions, providing a platform for faculty, students and staff to clarify doubts on accessibility to these e-resources, citation, impact factors, and availability of subject contents as well as how colleges too can get access to these resources. 

EBSCO and Balani Ltd also collected feedback from the participants on how to improve their contents, clarity of demonstration and also to understand participants' satisfaction level.
