‘Oldest press club’ in Nagaland observes 16th foundation day

The Kohima Press Club (KPC) on Friday observed its 16th Foundation Day at KPC Conference Hall. KPC president Xavier Rutsa said heralding a new chapter in the press and media history of Nagaland, some few pioneers in the field of media based at Kohima initiated the formation of KPC on January 20, 2001.   He said, “KPC is the oldest press club in the state and has been pioneering in leading the fourth estate to a greater height.”

Over the last 16 years, the KPC has done a commendable yeoman service to the society and today KPC is able to stands on its feet and well recognized amongst the society, he said. With the humble beginning with handful of members, today KPC has 46 registered members, working both in print and electronic media and more members to join the Club soon.   Rutsa acknowledged the pioneers and all the members for the active support and cooperation rendered to KPC on all occasion. “True to its motto “To Serve,” let us all rededicated oneself to serve the society and also continued to uphold the ethics of journalism,” he said.  

KPC general secretary Alice Yhoshü informed that the Club will be visiting KRIPA Centre on Republic Day on January 26 and sought active participation of the members.  

Earlier, special number presented by Thejano Ethel Kirha, finalist Naga Talents Promo 2016. Keduovilie Linyü, Member, KPC & Associate Pastor, Baptist Revival Church Kharüzou prayed the programme while vote of thanks as proposed by KPC vice president Atul Sharma. KPC former president H. Chishi and senior journalist Oken Jeet Sandham also exhorted the gathering.
