Kivigho Zhimomi Ghotovi Village, Niuland Sub-Division During the tenures of previous Governments, the roads and bridges in Nagaland were totally neglected as a result they are is all about the ‘fishery pond size pot holes and broken bridges.’ The lay man in Nagaland wonders, ‘Don’t the NL-10 maliks feel the Ooh aah ouch?’ Not all NL-10’s are to be blamed for the bad roads and bridges scenario but we have to blame you all because you can voice out. Owing to the massive landslide along NH 29 (due to 4-lanning) the forgotten, neglected and unrepaired road i.e. Niuland-Zadima via Ghotovi village road is declared as alternative road to connect Kohima & Dimapur. To be precise this neglected and forgotten road is an Old British Road known by its name as Kohima - Bokajan Road in short KB road. This road if maintained or given importance can be a multipurpose Road. But instead of repairing or giving importance to this road, it is always politicised after every successive Government compromising the need of the general public and the NL-10 alike. The distance of Dimapur-Kohima via Ghaspani is 74 Kms. The distance of Dimapur-Kohima via Niuland, Ghotovi, Zadima is 78 Kms approx which is a matter of a few Kms. Therefore there is a great need to have a 2 way route to connect Kohima and Dimapur from both the road instead of solely depending on NH-29 as the wrath of nature is un-predictable. Why this road (Niuland-Zadima via Ghotovi village) is important? It is important because there is a cut- off of about 15-20 km (approx) to reach destinations like Northern Angami areas, Tseminyu, Pughoboto, Wokha, Mokokchung, Zunheboto etc, keeping Botsa village as ‘Zero point’ for the above destinations. There is not only a cut off in Kms. but with the repair of this existing road the Traffic Jam in Kohima capital created by the above stated commuters will ease once and for all , keeping the State Capital (smart City in the waiting) a Traffic jam free Zone . Therefore, I as a concerned citizen request our State Govt to give great importance to this Orphaned Old British Road (Niuland-Zadima via Ghotovi vllage road) in the line with NH-29 and other unmentioned roads.
