School heads from across Kohima district attend a one-day orientation programme organised by the District Education Office at the SIRD Conference Hall.

KOHIMA, MAY 4 (MExN): A one-day orientation programme for Government School Heads of Kohima District was organised by the District Education Office (DEO), Kohima, on May 2 at the SIRD Conference Hall here.
According to a press release, District Education Officer (DEO) Emilo Patton delivered the keynote address while Senior SDEO, Kohima, Patricia Vizo, extended a warm welcome to the participants.
The programme featured an experience-sharing session in which Azinu Swuro, Principal of Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Jotsoma, and Keneingu Rutsa, Head Teacher of Government Middle School (GMS), L. Khel, Kohima, spoke on their respective professional journeys and shared practical insights.
The occasion also marked the presentation of the Academic Excellence Awards for Kohima District. GHSS Jotsoma was felicitated for producing the topper in the HSSLC 2025 Arts stream (Rank 1 in Nagaland) and the Commerce stream topper (Rank 10). GHSS Sechu Zubza was recognised for producing the Rank 8 state topper in the HSSLC 2025 Arts stream.
Government Primary School, Kenuozou, was awarded for producing the Topper in the Primary School Leaving Certificate (PSLC) Examination 2024. Government High School (GHS), PWD, received recognition for producing the Subject Topper in HSLC 2025 (Electronics), while GHS Chandmari was awarded for the Subject Topper in HSLC 2025 (Automotive).
Several schools were also honoured for achieving 100% pass results in HSLC 2025, including GHS Tasazhu; GHSS Chiechama; GHS Nerhema Model; GHS Diki Dihoma; GHS Mezoma; and GHSS Jotsoma.
The award for Best Performing Government School Head in Kohima District for 2025 was conferred on Azinu Swuro, Principal of GHSS Jotsoma, in recognition of her exemplary leadership. Under her guidance, the school produced the state topper in the HSSLC examination for two consecutive years—2024 and 2025.
In the afternoon session, technical presentations were delivered on a range of topics, including highlights of the District Mission Authority (DMA) activities, NECTAR Project’s Capacity Building and Governance component, EBRCS activities, and initiatives undertaken by the District Education Office.
