Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court and Patron-in-Chief of NSLSA, Justice Ashutosh Kumar and othere at the Legal services stall set up by Nagaland State Legal Services Authority at Hornbill, Kisama.
KOHIMA, DECEMBER 11 (MExN): The Legal Services Stall set up by the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) at the Naga Heritage Village, Kisama, during the 26th Hornbill Festival concluded on Tuesday.
According to NSLSA Member Secretary Neiko Akami, more than 1,000 beneficiaries availed free legal services at the stall. A total of 1,094 visitors, including local residents and domestic tourists, were recorded during the 10-day period.
Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court and Patron-in-Chief of NSLSA, Justice Ashutosh Kumar, visited the stall on December 2, accompanied by judges and officials of the High Court.
Visitors collected legal pamphlets on various topics, including new laws, available in English and Nagamese. Pamphlets translated into local dialects were also distributed. Individuals seeking legal assistance or representation were referred to the respective District Legal Services Authorities and the State Legal Services Authority.
Panel Lawyers, Para Legal Volunteers and NSLSA staff manned the stall. Seven interns from St Joseph’s College, Jakhama, from the undergraduate Political Science and History departments, assisted in distributing pamphlets and creating awareness about free legal services.
