The Nagaland Education Association (NEA) today organized a panel discussion on National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and Pedagogic Reforms in Nagaland at State College of Teacher Education (SCTE) Kohima.
Two panelists- Dr Bendangyapangla, Associate Professor, SCTE, Kohima and Dr Prasanjit Pal, Assistant Professor, Department of Teacher Education, Nagaland University, Kohima Campus, Meriema, were of the view that NEP 2020 has outlined several good things and its objective is to reduce the curriculum to the core issues and spend more time on creative thinking and activity based learning.
NEP 2020 has come at the right time; however, its benefits are yet to be known, said Dr Bendangyangla, adding that reforms and changes are required in the education system.
Dr Pal deliberated on multi-disciplinary studies and flexibility of the education system through integration of the courses under the NEP.
In his keynote address, NEA president Dr Zavise Rume stated that many good things has been recommended in the NEP 2020 and stressed on the need to implement the same on ground.
“It is now our role to implement it,” he said.
Dr Rume said with NEP 2020 coming into implementation, teachers will have to think of the policies in it and ensure that curriculum is flexible and make education more joyful and integrated for students.
The object of NEP 2020 is to develop India into a vibrant knowledge society with a strong foundation and base.

The panel discussion was moderated by Dr Elizabeth Walling, Principal, SCTE Kohima while concluding remarks was given by Dr Neizekhonuo Liezietsu, Asstt. Professor, SCTE Kohima.
