Chümoukedima, September 21 (MExN): The choral competition organised under the theme ‘Many Colors Paint the Rainbow’ organised by Patkai Christian College (PCC), Chümoukedima in collaboration with Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA), Government of Nagaland was held at Bundrock Auditorium on September 21.
An update received here stated that Kithaga Union Baptist Church, Tseminyu won the choral competition with a cash reward of Rs 1,25,000 and certificate of appreciation. The second position was awarded to Bethel Baptist Church winning a cash reward of Rs 1,00,000 and certificate. Third position was awarded to Chakhesang Baptist Church, Diphupar ‘B’ with cash prize of Rs 75,000 and a certificate. Oriental Theological seminary, conductor Thujoi Rhakho, was awarded the Best Conductor with cash prize of Rs 20,000 and certificate.
The participating choir included Kohima Lotha Baptist Church-conductor: Longshithung Ovung; Bethel Baptist Church, Tseminyu-conductor: Senwachu Kath; Chakhesang Baptist Church, Diphupar B-Conductor: Johutsu Swuro; Kithagha Union Baptist Church, Tseminyu-conductor: Philip Magh; Khedi Baptist Church, Kohima-conductor: Khriezenuo Suokhrie; Lotha Baptist Church, Dimapur-conductor: Avoni Odyuo; Oriental Theological Seminary-conductor: Thujoi Rhakho.
The judges of the competition were Hito Kiho, Pfotokho Kayina and Vimezo Iralu.
Earlier speaking as the event, Abu Metha, Advisor to Chief Minister of Nagaland said, ‘Every individual has the capacity to make an impact and change the world. As long as you put in the hard work, the commitment, there is no reason why you cannot achieve what you have aspired, there’s no reason why dreams cannot come true.’
Expressing hope, he said, ‘for too long, we have been known for violence and turmoil, it’s the young people like you today who have to tell new stories; stories of success, and excellence’. “The world must know Nagaland for celebrating good things, for showing despite of challenges, the blossoming of human spirits, and human endeavour. For this to take place, we must unite and come together as Nagas,” he stressed.
Metha also announced that the top three winners will be given the opportunity to perform at the Hornbill Festival, 2024.
The event also featured a special musical performance by The Nagaland Madrigal Singers.
It was also announced that the winner will be performing during the Patkai Golden Jubilee 2024 grand finale on November 2.
