DIMAPUR, APRIL 11 (MExN): The Peace Channel organized a training programme on conflict resolution and dialogue on April 11 in Asukhomi village Zunheboto, which was attended by public leaders, GBs and Council members.

The event was facilitated by Kanoho Jakha, Chapter Coordinator of Zunheboto. He stressed on the need for peace and peace-building strategies in daily activities and to bring about such huge transformation in communities, leaders in the communities have a huge role to play.

“For many years, Nagas have been relying on the abilities of physical strength to resolve conflicts and issues and for the same, we have been suffering for so long. Nagaland is more governed by customary laws practically administered by the village councils and GBs and we have great advantage of utilizing it either for the best or the worst and this is a good time to make a wave for positive lifestyles in the society,” he stated.

“We need peace to sustain our existence, to get security and to live desirable lives and for that, we need to resolve our problems without resorting to any form of violence, which have more potential of destroying the future of our own lives,” he added. He also encouraged that transformation happens with the society when one lives by transforming oneself for the good of all.

Meanwhile a practicum on dialogue and conflict resolution was also facilitated by the Chapter Coordinator. It was also decided to welcome the initiative of forming a Peace Forum at Asukhomi Village.
