Penta School of Music in Kohima

Penta School of Music (PSM) was formally inaugurated here this morning by first Class contractor Vilelie Khamo at Sundry Homestead, AG Road, Kohima.   Addressing the inaugural function, Khamo complimented his comrade Keneikriil Noswe for accomplishing his vision and dream to groom the aspiring musicians through the setting up of the music institute.   Keneikriil Noswe’s passion for music led to establishment of PSM in the name of his five children.

  Khamo stressed on the need to make the best use of one’s talent, saying that opportunity will not come all the time for which one must grab the opportunity at the right time.   Sharing the background and vision of this music school, PSM advisor Keneikriil Noswe said that this institute has a vision to spread quality music education which will go a long way in building and nurturing our society towards a better future.   The PSM aim to nurture this breath of the society, in the form of the much loved musical instruments “The Piano,” associated with its peripherals.   The PSM also aims to provide students with musical knowledge and experiences that would truly enable them to achieve their musical dreams, be it professional or as a hobby.   PSM director Lozinii Noswe, MCM Conducting PBTS, Philippines said that students will be expected to develop an awareness of the importance of music in daily life and to respect the role music plays on their heritage and other cultures.   The PSM will provide opportunities for children to experience music through movement, dance and the different approaches of music, she said adding that it would also involve children in a variety of enjoyable activities and facilitate discussion about feelings experienced.   It will also focus perform patterns emphasizing the accented beat in 2/4, 3/4, 4/4 and 6/8 metres, discuss appropriate posture for piano playing and the possible effects of poor posture and also provide opportunities for students to rehearse and perform classroom repertoire for a variety of settings i.e church, weddings.   As students practice classroom repertoire, specific articulation of their instruments will be introduced, she said.   The programme also witnessed special number from Tsiiphiekro ABCC, V. Khamo Riivekro 2016 and The family.   Rev. Atha Neikha, pastor VBC prayed for the team while Rev. Hosato Kiso senior pastor VBC and Pastor Neichiiriazo Chiicha pronounced invocation and benediction respectively.   Earlier, the function was chaired by Dr. Hovithal Sothu while vote of thanks was tendered by Swedele Noswe.     COURSES OFFERED: *Private piano lessons for beginners with theory classes in the first month of enrollment *Private piano with lessons (Advanced) *Piano with conducting *Sight reading *Accompanying *Music theory
