Minister for School Education & SCERT Yitachu today graced the 23 session of Phoyisha Cultural festival at Yisisotha village under Meluri Sub Division of Phek district. Altogether 10 villages under Phoyisha area are competing in different cultural activities.
The festival aims to promote and preserve cultures and tradition. It also aim to instill the good moral values and ethics of culture to the younger generation in promoting peace, love, harmony and oneness of the people and create cordial relations with neighbours.
Yitachu said that preserving and promoting one own culture is very important of life as without culture there is no identity. “We should continue to promote culture,” he said adding that it has not only promote tourism but also develop people to people contact. Yitachu also said that cultural platform also bring the countries together and develop social harmony. It also promotes trade and commerce activities.
He informed that Meluri Sub Division possesses rich mineral deposit and huge potential for hydro power. He said it will have direct connectivity to Southeast Asian countries where trade and business will take place in a big way between India and Myanmar. He said that trans-border highway connectivity has already been approved by Government of India in principle.
Earlier, welcome address was delivered by Phoyisha Cultural Organisation general secretary Lazithu Trakha. Phoyisha cultural organisation president S. Pfithu chaired the inaugural function. The festival will go on till January 6 with Dr. Ritu Thurr, CMO Longleng as valedictory chief guest.
